Graduation from an accredited Occupational Therapy programNJ State Occupational Therapy LicenseMaintained registration by the American Occupational Therapy Certification BoardSatisfactory completion of Certification Examination of National Board for Certification of Occupational Therapists (NBCOT) and maintenance of registrationAHA BLS Provider CertificationValid Driver s LicenseTwelve-week pediatric affiliation or pediatric experienceDetailed knowledge of developmental theory and the effects of physical and percepto-cognitive disabilities as well as the psycho-social aspects of functional adaptation to the environmentAbility to evaluate disruptions in performance and plan treatment to minimize disabling effects of these conditionsTact and judgment in performance of dutiesCommitment to improving skill levelAbility to work effectively with othersGood verbal and written English communication skillsPreferred:

Selects, administers, and interprets assessment tools as designated in competency expectations including: History, Screening, Observations, and Evaluations as appropriated to patientsIdentifies and prioritizes time realistic functional goals for remediation, compensation, adaptation or prevention of deficitsSelects|utilizes|evaluates the effectiveness of appropriate treatment methods (as designated in competency expectations)Applies principles of activity analysis for grading physical|perceptual-cognitive|psycho-social demands to produce an optimal mesh of child's or family's abilities to meet environmental demandCommunicates effectively with patients, families, & team in oral and written formats in both formal and non-formal situations. Communicates effectively with referring physicians and community contactsAs designated in competency expectations, assists in training others. This may include staff, COTAs, aides and studentsTakes responsibility for seeking supervision or consultation in relationship to clinical performance.
