Job Description:
The Pediatric Oncology Clinical Research RN directs the interdisciplinary care team via delegation, coordination and collaboration as appropriate to maintain adherence to protocol guidelines. Under the direction of the Principal Investigator, the Pediatric Oncology Clinical Research RN conducts and completes assessments of clinical trials compliance and reports required data to appropriate regulatory bodies in a timely and accurate manner. Activities may also include direct patient interactions during active treatment, gathering information necessary to report to the clinical trials, monitoring patients during the follow-up period after the conclusion of the study, and accurate reporting of all necessary data.Essential Functions
Reviews treatment course(s) of participants enrolled on therapeutic trials during active treatment and the follow up period by reviewing the medical record and collaborating with the clinical care team to ensure protocol guidelines are being followed reporting all findings via each study data capture system.
Identifies adverse events and serious adverse events and collaborates with attending physicians and principal investigator who will review and assess attribution(s), if applicable and report appropriately.
Maintains drug accountability with medication diaries for patients enrolled in trials containing investigational agents and any other trials requiring medication or alternate diaries.
Knowledge of study agents and their clinical effects, administration needs, and protocol observation requirements.
Confers with the clinical care team to communicate, assist with research related issues, develop and provide education to staff members, and facilitate protocol adherence.
Develops departmental quality assurance standards and work practice documents (WPDs), adheres to expectations as outlined within, and conducts data quality reviews and audits.
Completes and maintains study records including logs, materials, and databases to ensure compliance with study protocols, FDA, IRB, departmental, institutional, and university regulations.
Coordinates clinical research projects with the appropriate managers/directors and assists with various aspects of research and data collection.

Required Qualifications
BSN within three years of hire or promotion. Education must be obtained from an accredited institution. Degree will be verified.
Certification of successful completion of the Association of Pediatric Hematology/Oncology Nurses (APHON) Chemotherapy and Biotherapy Provider course and examination. Or completion within 6 months of hire.
Oncology RN clinical experience, OR research experience as study coordinator, clinical research coordinator, or data manager.
Proficient in computer systems and programs such as Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, search engines, and able to use digital communication effectively.
Work effectively with a multidisciplinary team using good communication, listening, problem-solving, adaptability, conflict resolution, inclusivity, and interpersonal skills.
Preferred Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in nursing (BSN)
Two years of Pediatric Oncology RN clinical experience.
Two years of research experience as a study coordinator, clinical research coordinator, or data manager.
Mentoring experience
Ability to manage workloads efficiently ensuring that the most critical tasks are addressed first, have good time management, and be flexible to adjust priorities as new tasks arise or when circumstances change.
