Job Overview:
Works with patients needing restorative nursing measures to gain or to maintain their highest possible practical, functional level. Responsible for carrying out restorative program developed by the therapists.

Current Long-Term Care Facility Nursing Assistant certification and placement on the NJ Nurse Aide RegistryAmerican Heart Association (AHA) BLS Provider CertificationKnowledge of and interest in the care of the LTC patientKnowledge and skills in basic restorative nursing principles and practicesHas further training in techniques and practices of restorative nursingConscientious, cooperative, ability to work as a team memberMinimum of two years clinical CNA experience, with consistently good performance evaluationsCertifications and Licenses Required:

Full Time 40 hours/weekEssential Functions:
Provides direct restorative care as assigned, completing work accurately, safely and in a timely mannerCare includes passive/active ROM, ambulation, special positioning techniques, splints, assistive standing devices, feeding devices /adaptive equipment, ADL training, restorative dining, bladder retraining and oral stimulationReceives and carries out specific instruction from Nurse Manager on restorative nursing techniques. Documents restorative nursing tasks by completing flow sheets dailyWorks with other disciplines, as appropriate, and participates in groups as needed. Meets routinely with Nurse Manager and LTC Therapy CoordinatorCoaches and assists C.N.A.'s in positioning, ROM, ambulation, ambulation devices, standing devices, ADL, splints/contracture care, ADL specifics, safety device application, appropriate padding and wheelchair cushions, safety device releaseCoaches and assists to make sure residents have their recommended adaptive equipment available. Reports lack of functioning equipment and supplies to appropriate personnel, i.e. therapist, rehab tech staff, etc.Notifies Nurse Manager when a patient is regressing/progressing or unable to participate in the program so that an assessment can be done by nurses and change in the program and care plan made, as indicatedProvides input into development of individualized plan of restorative care. Provides Nurse and Therapists with suggestions for improving patients' care to help a patient reach their highest possible functioning levelAssists with orientation and staff development in principles and practices of restorative nursing. Serves as a resource and teammate to other Nursing AssistantsReceives and carries out instruction from Physical Therapists, Occupational Therapists and Speech Therapists on resident restorative needs when applicableOther Duties:
