 United Health Services is seeking a Peer Bridger to join our Chemical Dependency department at UHS Binghamton General Hospital in Binghamton, NY. This position is benefits eligible.

$16.35 - $21.49 per hour, depending on experience.

Overview

The Peer Bridger provides peer support, information, and advocacy to individuals with a mental health or substance use disorder and who are experiencing a mental health crisis. They are a valuable and integral member of a multidisciplinary team who offers unique insight from the point of view of a peer. While not clinical in nature, the role of the peer is critical in supporting an individual’s informed decision making around treatment options and connection to resources in the community.

Qualifications

Education/Experience

Minimum Required:High school diploma or equivalentOne to three (1–3) years of relevant experience working with individuals with mental illness or substance use disordersPreferred:Associates or Bachelors Degree in related fieldThree to five (3–5) years' experience working with individuals with mental illness or substance use disorders.


License/Certification

Minimum Required:Must qualify for and obtain provisional Certification or Credentialing (as listed below) within 12 months of being hired with permanent certification or credentialing to follow.Current unrestricted drivers license and two (2) years' maintenance of any form of drivers license with evidence of a clean driving record. Use of personal vehicle required to meet patients in the community, however transporting patients is not permitted.Preferred:Hold current/active New York Peer Certification:New York Certified Peer Specialist, Provisional (NYCPS-P)New York Certified Peer Specialist (NYCPS)New York Certified Recovery Peer Advocate (CRPA)Credentialed Family Peer Advocate (FPA-C)Credentialed Youth Peer Advocate (YPA-C)
