Job Summary:
The Certified Peer Specialist plays a vital role in supporting individuals with mental health and substance use disorders by promoting recovery and resilience. Through the power of lived experience, the Peer Specialist will guide individuals in developing essential recovery skills and building a path toward long-term independence. This position requires a compassionate individual who can create meaningful relationships with clients, support their recovery journey, and empower them to make proactive choices in their treatment.
In this role, you will be responsible for assisting clients in developing treatment plans, facilitating group education, and collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to ensure the highest standard of care. You will also provide crisis intervention as needed and maintain documentation in compliance with state and CARF standards.

Assist participants in developing treatment plans and ensuring continuity of care.Communicate regularly with referral sources/guardians regarding client progress, transition planning, and clinical issues.Facilitate group education sessions to support recovery goals and treatment plans.Provide peer support services, including sharing lived experiences, modeling recovery behaviors, and fostering resilience.Assist in connecting clients with community resources, including mutual aid support groups and other recovery services.Provide crisis intervention and assist in scheduling treatment and transportation arrangements.Document services provided in accordance with state and CARF standards.Participate in ongoing professional development to meet the required 36 hours every two years.Education, Experience, and/or Credential Qualifications:
Self-identify as a present or former client of mental health or substance use services or as a person in recovery from mental health or substance use disorders.Must be at least 21 years of age.High school diploma or equivalent required.Complete a state-approved training program and pass any required examinations (if applicable).Missouri Only: Complete a 5-Day Basic Training Program and pass the Missouri State Certification Examination within six months.Additional Qualifications:
Ability to communicate clearly and effectively, both verbally and in writing.Capable of maintaining healthy boundaries while sharing lived experiences.Knowledge of case management, rehabilitation methods, and community resources.Strong problem-solving and interpersonal skills.Ability to work independently and as part of a team.Physical Requirements:
