Job Description

We are seeking a detail-oriented and collaborative People Operations and Employee Relations Specialist II to join our dynamic People Team. This role is pivotal in ensuring a seamless and accurate offboarding process for all employees, while also providing support for lower-level employee relations (ER) investigations. The ideal candidate will thrive in a fast-paced environment, possess excellent communication skills, and demonstrate a strong commitment to fostering a positive and equitable workplace culture.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Offboarding Process ManagementManage the end-to-end employee offboarding process to ensure accuracy and compliance with company policies and applicable laws.Serve as the point of contact for offboarding employees, ensuring a respectful and smooth transition.Collaborate with internal teams (e.g., Payroll, IT, Benefits) to coordinate final pay, system access removal, and benefits transitions.Regularly audit offboarding procedures to identify and implement process improvements.Maintain accurate and confidential offboarding records and documentation.Employee Relations SupportConduct thorough and impartial investigations into routine employee relations matters, such as potential policy violations, interpersonal conflicts, or minor grievances.Create investigation plans, interview relevant parties, and review documentation and other materials to determine findings.Write clear and concise investigation summary reports and provide recommendations to resolve issues and prevent recurrence.Partner with HR Business Partners and leadership to address trends and escalate more complex issues as necessary.Provide coaching and guidance to employees and managers on company policies and workplace best practices.Performance Improvement Plan OversightGuide and support managers in drafting, implementing, and monitoring performance improvement plans (PIPs).Ensure consistency, fairness, and compliance with company policies throughout the PIP process.Track outcomes and provide recommendations for next steps based on progress.Unemployment Claims ManagementRespond to and manage unemployment claims, ensuring accurate and timely submission of required documentation.Partner with legal and payroll teams to provide necessary information and represent the company’s interests effectively.Compliance and Training OversightOversee the rollout and completion tracking of compliance-related trainings, such as anti-harassment, workplace safety, and data privacy.Collaborate with the Learning and Development team to ensure content is current and effective.Competitor Noncompete ManagementAssist with managing and monitoring compliance with noncompete agreements for departing employees.Provide guidance and support to managers and legal teams on potential risks and enforcement actions.Data Management and ReportingTrack and analyze data related to offboarding trends and ER cases, providing actionable insights to improve processes.Ensure compliance with legal and regulatory requirements, maintaining high standards of confidentiality and professionalism.Collaboration and CommunicationAct as a trusted resource for employees and managers, promoting open communication and a positive work environment.Partner with the People Team to develop training programs and tools aimed at preventing workplace issues and improving team dynamics.

QualificationsAssociate’s degree required with relevant experience. Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field preferred.2-4 years of experience in Human Resources, People Operations, or Employee Relations roles.Experience conducting workplace investigations.Strong knowledge of employment laws, regulations, and Human Resources best practices.Exceptional attention to detail and organizational skills.Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with integrity and discretion.Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build relationships across all levels of the organization.Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a dynamic environment.Proficiency in HRIS systems and Microsoft Office Suite; familiarity with offboarding tools and platforms is a plus.

Additional Information

Hybrid Work Model: At Guardant Health, we have defined days for in-person/onsite collaboration and work-from-home days for individual-focused time. All U.S. employees who live within 50 miles of a Guardant facility will be required to be onsite on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays. We have found aligning our scheduled in-office days allows our teams to do the best work and creates the focused thinking time our innovative work requires. At Guardant, our work model has created flexibility for better work-life balance while keeping teams connected to advance our science for our patients.

The US base salary range for this full-time position is $63,360 to $85,540. The range does not include benefits, and if applicable, bonus, commission, or equity. The range displayed reflects the minimum and maximum target for new hire salaries across all US locations for the posted role with the exception of any locations specifically referenced below (if any).

For positions based in Palo Alto, CA or Redwood City, CA, the base salary range for this full-time position is $79,200 to $106,920. The range does not include benefits, and if applicable, bonus, commission, or equity.

Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including, but not limited to, job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. If you are selected to move forward, the recruiting team will provide details specific to the factors above.

Employee may be required to lift routine office supplies and use office equipment. Majority of the work is performed in a desk/office environment; however, there may be exposure to high noise levels, fumes, and biohazard material in the laboratory environment. Ability to sit for extended periods of time.
