People Safety Manager

The People Safety Manager, will be responsible for the development, implementation and ongoing oversight of all policies, programs and related training materials intended to reduce the number and severity of injuries to team members and guests and help ensure safety is properly prioritized for all Inspire Brands companies. The effectiveness of all such policies, programs and training materials must be consistently measured to ensure that they add value, meet safety goals, and demonstrate success (which, in the context of safety, means a reduction in safety-related incidents and the severity of injuries).
Duties and Responsibilities
Develops and maintains safety programs and policies, updates existing programs and policies as needed.Communicates subject matter to stakeholders in Operations, Training, Communications, Legal, etc.Researches and develops safety and security programs to reduce employee injuries, fleet accidents, environmental exposures, and general liability risks as well as other health and safety related issues.Reviews and makes recommendations on new processes, equipment, and products for safety concerns (restaurant equipment, construction materials, uniforms, etc.).Designs, implements, and administers safety training.Prepares and directs the individual brand Safety Committee activities.Designs and oversees safety award programs.Monitors state and federal agency regulations and advises on policies and procedures needed to be compliant.Develops written programs needed to comply with state and federal safety regulations.Supports OSHA and other health regulatory compliance reporting (OSHA survey, etc.).Conducts OSHA and other health regulatory activities pertaining to inspections and violations.Acts as the contact for Fire Marshall, EPA, and OSHA representatives.Maintains and evaluates accuracy and analyzes incident and claim data. Makes recommendations for actions to reduce risk.Maintains and communicates safety incident dashboards and reporting.Creates safety communications and partners with communications stakeholders to ensure they are communicated. Examples include safety alerts, monthly safety topic communications, safety messages, etc.Creates and maintains safety content on SharePoint sites.Publishes and maintains updated internal safety program documents.Creates short and long-term department vision, goals, and objectives.Develops annual budget for Safety Programs.Participates in meetings with insurance brokers and carriers.Education Qualifications
Minimum: 4 yr Degree in Environmental Safety & Health or related fieldCertified Safety Professional (CSP) credential or equivalent preferred (if not already obtained, credential will be required upon hire)Minimum: 5+ years’ of Safety and Health experienceExperience using risk management information systems preferredClear understanding of workers’ compensation laws and claims handling preferredRestaurant experience preferredREQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS or ABILITIES
Working knowledge of Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) regulations, Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), American National Standards Institute (ANSI), the various health effects, illnesses, and accidents associated with specific job functions, and general microbiologyExhibits excellent decision-making skillsAbility to foster teamwork, build collaborative relationships, and maintain a positive safety culture with a focus on brand protection, collaboration, and educationDetail oriented with analytical thinking skillsStrong understanding of data analyticsAbility to convey an employee-focused, brand-protection mindsetSkilled in time management and organization with excellent attention to detailStrong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills with the ability to make clear, concise, and convincing safety recommendations; strong public speaking skillsAbility to meet multiple deadlines in a fast paced, customer-oriented cultureBasic ability to make appropriate business judgment and recommendations independent of supervisorAbility to travelWorking knowledge of Microsoft applications, including Outlook, Excel, Power BI, Word, PowerPoint, Teams, SharePoint, and OneNote
