Job Overview:

Under the supervision of a Department of Food and Nutrition Services Supervisor or Manager, the Building Service Worker cleans and supplies patient rooms, nursing stations, ancillary areas, and other areas assigned in accordance with standard procedures of the Environmental Services Department and in accordance with the Medical Center objectives.

Qualifications:

Required:

GED or High School Diploma requiredSuccessful completion of general and department specific orientation

Preferred:

Hospital housekeeping preferred

Scheduling Requirements

Per Diem status: (flexibility to work days, evening, or night)Has to be able to work, weekends, and holidays schedule as needed

Essential Functions:

Arrange furniture for meetings, workshops and community affairsAssists in cleaning of emergency spills observed or upon requestCleans housekeeping closet and maintains par levelsCollects and transport all waste, including RMW, according to policyCompacts Trash or places in containerDamp buffs and shampoo carpets with approved equipmentDry and wet mops floors of rooms and officesDust mops and wet mops corridor, stairwells and other common areasEmpties waste receptacles and removes trashMaintains assigned equipment for cleanliness and has repairs made when neededObserves and reports the need to repair equipment, furniture, building and fixturesPerforms cleaning functions in assigned areas following established schedules and using prescribed methodsPerforms patient discharge cleaning using 9-step cleaning procedureRefills paper towels, toilet paper, soap and toilet seat dispensersReturns promptly from errands, breaks, mealsScrubs and burnishes floors with approved equipmentTransport bulk trash from designated collection points to compactor areaUses and prepares solutions according to procedureVacuums carpetsCleans and maintains the integrity of the medication rooms
