Job Summary The Per Diem Athletic Trainer implements sports medicine and athletic injury treatment and prevention programs for Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute intercollegiate athletes on an if and when needed basis. Minimum Qualifications • Bachelor’s Degree in Athletic Training or related health field required. Master’s degree preferred. • 1-3 years of experience as a certified athletic trainer. • Certification by the National Athletics Trainers Association required. • Valid US Driver’s license • Eligible to attain New York State License • CPR Certified Available to work on an as-needed basis during scheduled athletic competitions, taking place primarily on weekends and/or evenings. Applicants must meet stated minimum education and experience requirements. Preferred Qualifications Master's Degree in Athletic Training Minimum Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities • Knowledge and understanding of all aspects of an athletic training program • Knowledge of NCAA regulations and guidelines governing the prevention and management of injuries in student athletes • Ability to initiate, develop and maintain contacts appropriate to an athletic training program • Strong interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to work effectively with a wide range of constituencies in a diverse community • Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing • Ability to read, understand, follow, and enforce safety procedures • Fitness level required to perform manual exercises and stretching and to carry heavy weights • Demonstrated commitment to diversity and inclusion • Demonstrated ability to work independently, to maintain confidentiality • Effective planning, organizing and time management skills Shift Non-Standard Shift: The per diem Athletic Trainer will work occasionally, specifically during scheduled athletic competitions that primarily take place on weekends or evenings. Travel Local travel between campus locations only Driving Driving a personal vehicle for non-passenger use Starting Salary/Rate Expected hiring range: $50.00 per hour Pay transparency disclosure: The selected candidate’s salary will be determined based on factors that include the available budget, internal equity, and the final candidate’s qualifications, experience, education and other job-related credentials.
