Per Diem Ward Clerk - OB

Salary Range: 18.16 - $23.83

Pay rates are determined based on experience and internal equity.

Position Summary:

This position reports to the Director of Perinatal Services.  Monitor visitors to the OB/GYN/Nursery department. Assist with the completion of Birth Certificates, paternity paperwork, and attends necessary annual trainings. Daily stocking of supplies and set up of labor rooms. Ordering of supplies for the department. Works well with ancillary staff and departments. Able to receive medical records from surrounding facilities and offices. Sets up newborn appointments prior to discharge. Ensures chart completion and breakdown of chart after discharge. Answering phone calls and assisting with needs as requests arise.   Must work well with supervisors, co-workers, patients/residents, family members and visitors. Demonstrate quality and effectiveness in work habits. Remains flexible to changing systems. Treats patients, families, visitors, peers and physicians with consideration and respect. Communicates concerns appropriately using the established chain of command. Other duties as assigned by Director or OB Lead.

Essential Functions:

The ability to have positive personal interactions with staff, patients/residents and visitors in person or on the telephone. The ability to use the keyboard to do data entry. The ability to have fine motor skills. The ability to claim up and down stairs carrying charts. The ability to sit for long periods of time. The ability of pulling, pushing, reaching, and hand carry charts on demand. The ability to work as a Team.

Position Qualifications:

Education: High School diploma or equivalent.  Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) Certification preferred, not required.  Experience: Computer and other modern office equipment knowledge.                      Certifications: BLS Certificate required from the American Heart Association, within 120 days of hire.   Skills/Ability: Knowledge of modern office equipment.  Excellent verbal and written communication skills.  Exhibits the ability to organize work assignments and follow though with accuracy, exercise good judgment, demonstrates initiative, emotional stability, tact and poise.
