Job Description

ROLE OVERVIEW

We are seeking an experienced Performance Testing Specialist with around 7+ years of expertise. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in automation tools, performance testing, and API integration, with a deep understanding of modern testing methodologies and frameworks.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Conduct performance testing, including the creation of test strategies and identifying test load and scenarios.
• Design automation scripts and conduct automation regression runs
• Expert in Performance test reporting and related metrics
• Secure performance test environments and good understanding the load setup.
• Manage defect logs and ensure defect fixes are validated through Performance testing testing.
• Ensure test environments and infrastructure are properly maintained and up-to-date.
• Identify and report performance concerns, inconsistencies, and issues to product teams.
• Collaborate with business and development teams to identify testing scope and requirements.

• Review test scripts, execution results, and final reports for performance testing.
• Regularly communicate with business and development teams to keep them informed on testing progress and results.
• Generate detailed reports on performance and automation results for business stakeholders.

ROLE REQUIREMENTS

• 7+ years in Quality Assurance, specializing in automation and performance testing.
• Experience with one or more automation tools for web and mobile testing, and designing automation frameworks.
• Proficiency with Atlassian tools (Jira, Confluence, GitHub).
• Strong Java scripting skills for automation purposes.
• Hands-on experience with Appium for mobile test automation.
• Experience with performance testing tools and analyzing bank systems for non-functional testing.
• Advantageous: Experience with K6 testing for performance analysis.
• Solid understanding of APIs and API frameworks.
• Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and integration of automation scripts into them.
• High attention to detail and ability to troubleshoot effectively.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Knowledge of cloud deployment (AWS preferred).

BS/MS degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
• Automation, performance, cloud, or testing certifications are a plus.
• Determinations in regard to unusual and potentially suspicious activity.
• Applying consistent and well-documented analysis consistent with industry standards to ensure success in the following daily efforts of Transaction Monitoring:
• App-testing experience, knowledge, and comprehension

The appointment will be made from the designated group in line with the Employment Equity Plan of Old Mutual South Africa and the specific business unit.

Design, code, develop, test and implement integration and supporting application development components and systems. Perform business analysis and software analysis. May coordinate projects and perform system maintenance activities.

ResponsibilitiesApplication Software Development

Develop existing applications and contribute to development of new applications by analyzing and identifying areas for modification and improvement. Develop new routine applications to meet customer requirements.

Applications Software Maintenance

Monitor, identify, and correct more complex software defects to maintain fully functioning applications software.

Design and Conceptualization

Produce multiple concepts and prototypes to design digital products/services.

Technical Developments Recommendation

Discuss and recommend technical developments to improve the quality of the website/portal/applications software and supporting infrastructure to better meet users’ needs.

Application Software Road Map

Contribute to and maintain a roadmap to facilitate application software development and ensure the development work is prioritized in line with business requirements.

Faults Diagnosis and Correction

Provide fault isolation and resolution to limit and address issues promptly.

Documentation

Create and maintain complex technical and/or user documentation to a high standard.

Testing Information Technology (IT) Performance

Design and perform website/applications software tests and respond to user emails to monitor, diagnose, and correct performance issues.

Operational Compliance

Maintain and renew a deep knowledge and understanding of the organization's policies and procedures and of relevant regulatory codes and codes of conduct, and ensure own work adheres to required standards. Or identify, within the team, patterns of noncompliance with the organization's policies and procedures and with relevant regulatory codes and codes of conduct, taking appropriate action to report and resolve these and escalating issues as appropriate.

Information Security

Implement required security measures, such as firewalls or message encryption, and provide input on their design, monitoring performance to notify security experts of any problems.

Horizon Scanning

Explore and develop a detailed understanding of external developments or emerging issues and contribute to the evaluation of their potential impact on, or usefulness to, the organization.

Data Collection and Analysis

Conduct research using primary data sources, and select information needed for the analysis of key themes and trends.

Analysis of "As Is" and "To Be"

Document "as is" and "to be" processes and describe the changes required to migrate to the "to be" capability to record accurately the change required.

Technical Database Support

Design distribution of basic database resources and provide physical modeling and design services to tune database applications for optimum performance.
