Responsibilities Job Description Job Summary: As a professional member of Transformation Office, the Performance Improvement (PI) Consultant has primary responsibility to support and drive small to medium size, complex strategic and functional area projects (singular | multi-disciplinary team, scope is process or system focused within 1-2 functional areas, low to medium impact financially and operationally) in collaboration with the department leadership in achieving defined outcomes and performance outlined by strategic plan and project charters. May participate in medium to large size projects under supervision of department leadership and or senior consultant. In this role, the PI Consultant works closely with executive sponsors, operational owner, and project team in preparing and executing projects for speed to implementation. This position ensures that assigned teams and customers actively engage in continuous process improvement to enhance performance and create efficiencies, understands, advocates, and promotes innovative ideas, transparency and informed decision making in compliance with industry standards. The PI Consultant collaborates closely with project managers, change management practitioners, and operational owners in developing project plans to support quality implementation, adoption, and sustainment of desired project outcomes. The PI Consultant brings knowledge in process and quality improvement, consulting, and operating systems that drive dramatic improvement across the system. The role is expected to be proactive, solution-oriented, biased toward action, and an exceptional communicator with strong interpersonal skills. This role in partnership with leadership is continuously gaining knowledge and skills of the fundamentals of the process | continuous improvement services. As a key member of the Transformation Office leadership team, the PI Consultant is patient, family, provider, and workforce centric and helps to expedite teams and programs to achieve financial health. Job Expectations: Leads and facilitates process improvement project teams simultaneously to achieve improved outcomes through effective assessment, planning, coordination, facilitation, implementation, and overall management of the improvement event. Creates project documentation (i.e., documented workflows, procedures, standards, training material, sustainment plan) to support implementation efforts, spread to other areas, and sustainment and hands off to the operational owner and project manager as part of project sign off. Drives sustainability of the work by designing, building out and executing the framework with the operational team to ensure that the implemented programs and projects are adhering to standard processes and procedures, sustaining performance, and aligning accountability. Supports the operating system which includes Daily Engagement System (DES), tier huddle process, leader standard work, and ensuring execution through operating system on performance dimension goals. In partnership with Transformation Office leadership and peers, supports in development, and continuously learn core Transformation Office Service Offerings that will reside on Transformation Office SharePoint site. Adheres and contributes to standard practices defined by the Transformation Office and standard tools/artifacts. Applies analytical/quantitative thinking to problem identification and solving and balance it with decision making. Acts with relentless pursuit of efficiency and value creation. Engages thought partners across the organization that challenges status quo through innovation and technology integration. Develops and maintains strong working relationships with sponsors, operational owners, and team members to become trusted advisor and achieve organizational targets. Engages in frequent status updates and leverages issue escalation pathway as outlined in project charter and service level agreement. Works collaboratively with and proactively engages Change Management Practitioners to support quality implementation, adoption, and sustainment of desired project outcomes. Fosters a culture of respect for people and continuous improvement, lives the Fairview and Transformation Office Commitments Knowledgeable of Fairview Operating System and incorporating process, artifacts, and training into project work. Participates in work with peers and other departments to create an excellent understanding of workflows and interdependencies and identify and implement strategies to improve the Transformation Office. In partnership with leadership, engages in and contributes to routine education and development of Transformation Office to multiply knowledge and skill to build a high-performing, sustainable team. Participates in regular team and department meetings, contributing to a sense of community amongst the team and sharing best practices, performance, and service offering updates. Maintains knowledge of, and complies with, all relevant laws, regulations, policies, procedures, and standards. (i.e., CMS, DHS, The Joint Commission, OSHA (Occupational Safety and Health Administration). Performs other duties as assigned. Qualifications Required Education Bachelor’s degree Experience 1-2 years of process improvement experience Successful execution and leadership of projects with progressive leadership? with scope of work including site operations or service line Diagnosis and analysis of the tools and techniques required to understand and analysis the current state and solve problems. Implementation and improvement of the tools and techniques required to apply and sustain lean in the workplace.
