Location: Voorhees - 100 Bowman Drive Employment Type: Employee Employment Classification: Per Diem Time Type: Part time Work Shift: 1st Shift (United States of America) Total Weekly Hours: 0 Additional Locations: Job Information: Job Summary: The Perinatal Bereavement Specialist will support the Perinatal Bereavement Manager. Responsibilities include providing supportive, compassionate care to grieving families, collaborating with the healthcare team and resources needed based on the individual needs of the patient; assessment and plan of care for the patient’s physical and emotional wellbeing; data collection and reporting; maintain perinatal bereavement and palliative care best practices and facilitation of group support sessions. Position Responsibilities: Performs a bereavement/palliative care assessment of the patient, leading to development, implementation and evaluation of a plan of care. Develops a plan of care that is based on the individual’s unique physical, emotional and spiritual needs. Collaborating with health care professionals and connecting community resources available to the patient Administers, monitors, and documents therapeutic interventions and regimes as it relates to bereavement/palliative care. Educates patient and family/responsible party regarding fetuses diagnosis and quality of life implications, along with individual care needs for the infant and parents. Provides sensitive bereavement communication to patients after a perinatal loss, offering anticipatory guidance for memory making, disposition of the baby, physical care of self, and ongoing emotional support. Provides empathetic, compassionate, and supportive plan of care for palliative care patients. Facilitates individualized care planning meetings with the family and care team. Assists in managing bereavement resources for the Maternal Child Health departments across the Virtua Health System. This includes participation in the process and procedures for funeral home notification, sensitivity training, orientation for new staff on perinatal bereavement and community outreach. Maintain electronic records, documentation and statical information regarding program consults and relevant data. Align best practices in perinatal bereavement and compliance with Autumn Joy Stillbirth and Dignity Act Provides ongoing support to the community facilitating group perinatal support sessions. Position Qualifications Required: Required Experience: Excellent communication skills; At least 5 year’s experience in NICU and/or Labor and Delivery, and support of perinatal loss at the bedside. Required Education: RN, Bachelor of Science Training / Certification / Licensure: Certification in perinatal bereavement or required within 6 months of hire.
