Pay range: $34.71/hr - $49.96/hr plus 10% per diem differential

 

Spanish bilingual skills highly preferred. 

 

The Perinatal Educator meets educational needs of expectant and new parents related to conception, pregnancy, childbirth, postpartum, infant feeding and infant care.

 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Performed majority of the time:

·       Develops, implements, revises, and maintains current curriculum for designated classes.

·       Creates, maintains and updates resource list as applicable for designated classes.

·       Shares information about OHSU Hillsboro Medical Center, health education information, services, and procedures with class participants as relevant.

·       Neatly stores class supplies and materials in the instructor closet. All items are clearly labeled.

·       Assesses customers’ educational needs with ongoing evaluations and adjusts accordingly.

·       Maintains and submits attendance documentation and class evaluation tools per department policy.

·       Assists customers in use of the library and internet to gather additional information.

Performed occasionally but critical to successful performance of the job:

·       Attends and actively participates in 75% of instructor staff meetings.

·       Reads professional journals, attends seminars/classes/professional organization meetings to stay current and expand knowledge base.

·       International Childbirth Education Association (ICEA) or Lamaze International required within one (1) year.

·       Knows and applies principles of adult education theory to teaching.

·       Maintains knowledge of basic counseling strategies.

·       Demonstrates knowledge of effective use of visual aids.

·       Utilizes feedback from customers to make decisions regarding course content and customer service.

·       Demonstrates ability to work as a cooperative team member with other instructors, facilitators, and staff.
