Perinatal Outreach Coordinator
Major Responsibilities: Responsible for Performance Improvement and Regulatory Initiatives within Women and Infants' Division.     1)• Disseminates relevant research findings through practice, education or consultation     2)• Identifies or explores options for resolution of critical research questions.     3)Coordinates and oversees the monthly morbidity and mortality conferences with Maternal Fetal Medicine and Neonatology staff at ACMC as well as South Suburban and Trinity Hospital. This will include but not limited to chart abstaction to prepare for the presentation.     4)Maintenance of all maternal transport and transfer information, specifically a system for effective communicaton between referring physicians/hospital and the ACMC maternal fetal medicine physicians. Responsible for administration of the Advocate Christ Medical Center Level III perinatal requirements.     1)Review accuracy of monthly statistics and oversight of timeliness of submission to the Perinatal Network.     2)• Collects data from Advocate Christ Medical Center and the system hospitals.     3)• Generates quality measurement reports for the State of Illinois.     4)• Generates reports for the perinatal network.     5)• Generates reports for Advocate Christ Medical Center and Advocate Healthcare.     6)• Uses IDPH comparative data to identify areas for needed improvement.     7)• Assists network hospitals in their designation/redesignation process within the Illinois Department of Public Health.     8)• Attends regular informational meetings for perinatal network--hospital nursing staff to communicate PAC, IDPH updates.     9)• Maintenance and involvement in all Perinatal Letters of Agreement. Implements projects to improve quality of care within Christ Medical Center or the Perinatal Network.     1)• Identifies opportunities for improvement.     2)• Develops, implements and evaluates a strategy.     3)• Conducting and/or participating in perinatal research projects and studies.     4)• Promotes patient safety by reporting of issues through established channels and participating as requested in safety initiatives. Provides consultation to Advocate Christ Medical Center staff and system hospital staffs.     1)• Provides consultation within area of clinical specialization to health team members regarding patient care issues.     2)• Locates and uses persons, inside and outside of the organization, for consultation and networking.     3)• Uses systematic analysis to address clinical and educational issues.     4)• Participates in professional organizations related to the subspecialty in order to promote and maintain current standards of care.     5)• Participates on committees as requested.     6)• Serving as a clinical liaison for the Department of Obstetrics, the perinatal coordinator will assist nursing staff, house staff, and OB attendings to identify antenatal patient care needs and implement a case management system for patients with special needs.     7)• Maintenance of a perinatal data base, including mechanisms for continued and improved state reporting.     8)• Maintenance and continual improvement of the process for obtaining accurate maternal and perinatal morbidity and mortality statistics and reporting as required by the Perinatal Center and IDPH. Coordination of education within the ACMC south region.     1)• Assist University of Illinois at Chicago to assess the educational needs of the network with the main emphasis of ACMC nursing staff.     2)• Develop and implement a plan to carry out the educational needs.     3)• Assist with the educational needs and planning for Advocate Trinity and Advocate South Suburban.     4)AWHONN Fetal Monitoring and NRP Instructor     5)Lead Planner for the Annual Perinatal Symposium Responsible for ensuring that ACMC is maintaining all requirements to meet the Level III Perinatal Center status.     1)Coordinate and take the lead with ACMC's Level III redesignation process.     2)Submit yearly update of Appendix A to Director for approval.     3)Update and maintain the Level III Hospital Resource Checklist.     4)Submit response with director approval for any recommendations that ACMC may have received during the triannual reveiw.

Licensure:Nurse, Registered (RN)

Education/Experience Required:5 years’ experience in Obstetrics at a Level III Perinatal Hospital Master of Science degree in Nursing

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Required:Strong human relations, leadership and interpersonal skills Good communication skills Presentation and group facilitating skills Critical thinking skills Ability to organize and prioritize work Current RN licensure in the State of Illinois Certification in Nursing Specialty
