Job Summary The Perioperative Nursing Training Program is a 9-month preceptorship designed to introduce the professional registered nurse to the practice of perioperative nursing. Incorporating didactic instruction and clinical experience, the learner is introduced to the activities and clinical skills necessary to care for the surgical patient throughout their surgical experience. AORN's Perioperative 101 Course is used as a guide to prepare the student as they advance through the program. Specialty-specific clinical experiences will be coordinated and supervised by preceptors chosen by the Perioperative Educators. Throughout the program, learners will function within the scope of practice of the Perioperative Nurse as defined by Reading Hospital.
