SummaryThe Permitting Manager will be responsible for managing the entire permitting process for company projects, including coordinating with local government agencies, submitting applications, ensuring compliance with zoning and land use regulations, and keeping the projects on track. The ideal candidate will have strong organizational skills, excellent communication abilities, and a thorough understanding of permitting laws and regulations.

This role will be based on the selected job posting location.Essential Duties and Responsibilities:Oversee and prepare permit applications by gathering required documents, such as blueprints, surveys, and other supporting materialsMaintain a thorough understanding of federal, state, and local regulations to ensure compliance with zoning, environmental, and land use standardsCommunicate effectively with clients, government agencies, and junior permitting staff to manage daily permitting tasks and ensure timely permit approvalsKeep accurate records of all permit applications, approvals, correspondence, and project-related regulatory documentsMonitor permit statuses to ensure timely renewals or reapplications, keeping projects on track and providing updates to internal stakeholdersAddress challenges or delays in the permitting process and resolve issues efficientlyCollaborate with construction, engineering, and real estate teams to align permitting efforts with project goalsEnsure clear, consistent communication with internal teams, clients, and regulatory agencies regarding permit statusManage federal and state wetland permitting processes from pre-application to completion, including wetland delineations and functional assessments (UMAM)Produce maps, graphics, and technical documentation to support ecological investigations, using GIS and processing GPS dataDraft narratives, reports, and technical copy for various applicationsOther duties may assignRequired Qualifications:Valid Florida Driver’s License with an acceptable driving record (in accordance with our Driver’s License and Motor Vehicle Record Check Criteria)Ability to pass a background check screening in accordance with Florida’s Jessica Lunsford Act (or equivalent state classification).Bachelor’s degree in construction management, urban planning, environmental science, or a related field (or equivalent experience)At least 3 years of experience applying for an obtaining 404 and ERP PermitsWetland delineation experience with demonstrable experience establishing wetland jurisdictional boundaries that have been reviewed and approved by federal and state agencies.Experience identifying hydric soil indicatorsConstitution suitable to strenuous outdoor work in harsh conditionsProficiency with ARC GIS, Tremble GPS, and basic office computer systemsAbility to read & write, and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Knowledge of written communication formats and composition, including grammar and vocabulary. Ability to present to one or more people, including customers, clients, and other employees of the organization. Ability to speak effectively with colleagues, supervisors, and customers/clients.Computer skills sufficient to operate a laptop and cell phone, including sending and receiving emails, prepare and present PowerPoint Presentations, and learn Deltek Vision, SAP Concur, and CRM software.Mathematical skills sufficient to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw or create, and interpret, bar graphs.Reasoning ability to handle multiple and changing priorities concurrently. Ability to work with problems and deal with a variety of variables. Ability to apply common sense to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to effectively communicate about products, services, and technical requirements to both the client/customer and employees within UES.Preferred Qualifications:Strong understanding of local, state, and federal regulations related to land use, zoning, and environmental complianceProficient in permitting software, document management tools, and Microsoft Office SuiteExceptional attention to detail, with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneouslyExcellent written and verbal communication skills; experience liaising with government officials and regulatory agenciesPermitting-related certifications or experience in specific regulatory frameworks (e.g., environmental, telecommunications, or utilities)Ability to navigate complex regulatory environments and resolve permit issues quicklyLimited, as required for project or agency meetings.Who We Are:   UES provides essential engineering services for some of the most prominent and significant projects in the nation.
