This is a limited duration position- assignment ends on June 30, 2025 with the possibility of being extending until June 2026. Come join our team. This position is highly visible and customer based in that it interfaces with the public most of the day. The successful candidate will route land use and building permit applications to the appropriate division and explain permit processes and department procedures to building contractors, architects, engineers, builders, and the general public. Examples of Duties + Responsible for a wide variety of tasks including scanning, permit intake, permit routing and customer service via email, telephone and in-person. + Works with a diverse group of internal and external customers to support a dynamic permitting experience for the citizens of Tigard. + Provide backup so other Tigard staff will be available to work on a major software conversion for up to three years. + Other duties, as assigned. Minimum Qualifications Any combination of training and experience, which would provide the required knowledge, skills, and abilities is qualifying. A typical way to obtain the required qualifications would be: + Equivalent to the completion of the twelfth (12th) grade AND + One (1) year of varied technical, clerical or paraprofessional support experience in a municipal or county building, engineering, or planning department or equivalent private sector experience. Supplemental Information Union Representation: SEIU Schedule: The position will generally work a 4-10 hour schedule Monday-Thursday. (General hours from 7:45 a.m. to 6:15 p.m.) This position is required to be on-site due to the nature of the job. How to apply: Please apply online. We do not accept applications via email. The starting pay assignment, based on an analysis of the successful candidate’s related experience and education in accordance with the City’s pay equity policy and the Oregon Equal Pay Act, would be no higher than $30.05 per hour.
