Bowhead seeks a Personal Computer Support Technician to join our team supporting the program office for NSWC Corona – Corona Division in Norco, California. The Personal Computer Support Technician will work directly for program leadership in analyzing complex and unique technical support assignments within a scaled agile environment.
Corona Division is the Navy’s premier independent assessment agent responsible for gauging the warfighting capability of Navy ships and aircraft by assessing weapons and integrated combat systems’ performance, readiness, quality, and supportability. The Personal Computer Support Technician will support the program office in supporting Corona Division operations.
Responsibilities• Set up hardware and install and configure software and drivers
• Maintain and repair technological equipment (e.g. routers) or peripheral devices
• Configure personal computer interface to connect to local, Navy interconnected networks
• Run diagnostic software when required
• Evaluate network connectivity issues and optimize connections
• Provide system administration of system settings to ensure optimum functionality and performance
• Ensure software updates are run correctly and as scheduled
• Manage security options and software in computers and networks to maintain privacy and protection from attacks
• Perform regular upgrades to ensure systems remain updated
• Troubleshoot system failures or bugs and provide solutions to restore functionality
• Arrange maintenance sessions to discover and correct computer defects either in performance or software applications
• Keep records of repairs and fixes for future reference
• Offer timely technical support and teach users how to utilize computers correctly
• Provide instruction to users on system functionality or installed software if required
• Other duties as assigned
• Bachelor's degree in relevant field and (1) Year of relevant experience providing support to distributed computers/peripherals and experience in regard to customer computer support, OR
• A high school degree, or a GED, and three (3) years of relevant experience providing support to distributed computers/peripherals and three (3) years’ experience in regard to customer computer support
• minimum IAT Level I certification
• Degree must be from an accredited college or university
• Proven ability to work on high visible or mission critical aspects of a given program and perform all functional duties independently
SECURITY CLEARANCE REQUIREMENTS: Must currently hold a Secret security clearance. US Citizenship is a requirement for Secret clearance at this location.
Physical Demands:
• Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds
• Must be able to stand and walk for prolonged amounts of time
• Must be able to twist, bend and squat periodically
