Incumbents in this series plan, organize and administer a comprehensive personnel services program including employee relations, selection, classification coordination, position control, evaluation, training, payroll and other related areas. Personnel Officers supervise the work of other personnel staff. Incumbents function as first-line supervisors who train, supervise and evaluate the performance of assigned staff; assign and review work; and initiate disciplinary action. The Department of Public Safety (DPS) is recruiting for our Human Resource Officer 1, located in Las Vegas. Under the direction of the HR Manager this position will act as DPS's Investigation Coordinator. Duties for this position include assisting with and the training of DPS staff on conducting investigations; tracking the status of internal investigations; providing guidance; reviewing and approving investigation documentation; reviewing materials and ultimately producing professional and grammatically correct written reports. This position will act as the DPS's Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) Coordinator, track and assist with Sexual Harassment & Discrimination complaints, oversee DPS's Leave Without Pay reviews and determinations, and assist with the FMLA and Catastrophic Leave programs. This position requires a valid driver's license or evidence of equivalent mobility at the time of appointment and for continuing employment.
