Summary of Duties:

The Personnel Security Help Desk Support Specialist will provide support Monday through Friday 8 hours a day during the core business hours of 6:00 AM – 6:00 PM Eastern Standard Time (EST) via phone and email to support personnel filling in their Electronic Questionnaires for Investigations Processing (e-QIP). For a candidate to be successful in this position the candidate must be familiar with reviewing of investigative forms for completeness, accuracy, and correct for the type of investigation needed; must be able to follow up with requesting or investigating offices to fill gaps in needed information such as missing Social Security numbers, requesting clarification of criminal charges which do not show final disposition, etc. Other roles and responsibilities shall include the following:

Review e-QIP request online and provide technical assistance with the applicant and “reject” the form back to the applicant for correction of information, if applicable. Receive telephone calls and respond to incoming e-mail messages on “Customer Service” web address. Prepare, submit, monitor, and update computer tracking systems concerning appropriate case material. Provide support allows applicants to enter, edit, and submit their personal investigative data to the sponsoring agency for review, approval, and submission to OPM. Staff member shall maintain a proficient working knowledge of the e-QIP system in order to adequately respond to e-QIP related inquiries, as well as identifying and elevating issues relative to system-wide and case-specific e-QIP related issues. Maintain personnel security reference materials and DHS policy and procedure for handling Privacy Act protected and Sensitive Personally Identifying Information. At the direction of the customer Staff member shall assist in providing formal and informal training in the utilization of supported systems and technologies necessary for performance.
