Summary This position is located in the Office of Administrative Services, Executive Office, Environment and Natural Resources Division. The Office administers a range of administrative support functions including space, security, equipment, facilities and maintenance, records and publication management, and comparable management support functions. The incumbent provides assistance with administrative support in the areas of personnel, physical, and information security. Duties include, but are not limited to, the following: Provide support to the administration of the Division's Security programs. Initiate e-App security survey questionnaires. Recommend security clearances and special accesses as needed. Interview applicants and request investigation from appropriate agencies. Perform indices checks, arrest record checks, and the like to obtain pertinent and identifying information for the cases assigned. Summarize data and compose correspondence for initiation of investigation, outlining background of individual cases, advising of information obtained from research and analysis and define security concerns. Compose a variety of documents to include responses to routine inquiries, reports, letters and other related documents. Prepare analysis of all information developed, to include potential remedial or precautionary action to meet minimum security standards for entry, retention, and employment suitability. Manage and maintain official documents into the defined system of record, management, workflow, or tracking systems, files, and /or sub-files. Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications To qualify at the GS-9, you must meet one of the following: A. At least one year of specialized experience at, or equivalent to, the GS-7 Federal grade level processing personnel security procedures and assisting others with basic questions on personnel security processes. B. A master's or equivalent graduate degree or 2 full years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to such a degree. Such education demonstrated the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work. C. A combination of specialized experience described in letter A above and post high school education described in letter B above. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps; AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skill and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Time in Grade: Federal employees must meet time-in-grade requirements (one year at the next lower grade) by the closing date of announcement.
