Personnel Security Specialist
Kearney & Company is seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Personnel Security Specialist to join our Personnel Security Team supporting and maintaining the company’s security program. The Personnel Security Specialist will be responsible for administering and supporting protocols and policies to ensure Kearney employees successfully obtain an personnel security clearances. Serve as a subject matter expert on the clearance process including Suitability and Public Trust clearance requirements, providing guidance and ensuring compliance with all security regulations. Evaluate suitability and public trust clearance responses, identifying and investigating any potentially adverse information. Draft and issue follow-up questions for PERSEC cases requiring additional clarification or verification. Assess the accuracy and authenticity of background information, interview responses, and supporting statements. Prepare comprehensive reports and provide recommendations for security clearance determinations, including approvals, suspensions, revocations, or denials. Input and track personnel security data in Defense Information System for Security (DISS)/National Background Investigation Services (NBIS), ensuring accuracy and timely submission. Maintain and update case statuses in Salesforce, ensuring appropriate tracking and documentation. Monitor and track government onboarding processes for new hires requiring security clearances. Periodically review and assess eAPP applications submitted by employees to ensure completeness, accuracy, and compliance with clearance requirements. Securely manage and maintain personnel security records using company-approved technologies. Collaborate with the Facility Security Officer (FSO) and Director of Intelligence & Security on personnel security initiatives. Stay updated on evolving federal security policies and procedures to ensure company-wide compliance. Support other security-related tasks and projects as assigned by leadership. This role is ideal for a detail-oriented professional with strong analytical and communication skills, looking to contribute to Kearney’s security operations. Qualifications Minimum of 1 year of experience working with security clearances and related processes Bachelors Degree Knowledge of NISPOM and other security clearance manuals Experience and ability to effectively use DISS, NBIS and e-App Proficient in the use of MS Office Suite, specifically Word, Excel, Access and PowerPoint Detail oriented and well organized Able to multi-task and handle competing priorities and deadlines Experience in Suitability & Public Trust clearances processes to identify security requirements and then assure compliance Experience reviewing all security documents to include SF-86’s for accuracy and completeness and preparation Sound business ethics, including the protection of proprietary and confidential information Strong organizational and administrative skills Strong verbal and written communication skills Ability to consistently meet punctuality and attendance expectations Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. security clearance Preferred Qualifications Training in agency security requirements and CDSE training strongly recommended Overview Exclusively focused on the Government, Kearney & Company provides financial services, including auditing, consulting, and technology services. This range is representative of base pay only and does not include straight time pay for hours worked over 40 per week, company contributions towards paid benefits, and/or bonuses. Actual compensation (meeting or exceeding the range) will be determined based on specific experience, education, work location, clearance level, and other factors permitted by law. This position is eligible for bonuses (when applicable).
