Job Title: Petroleum Department Manager
Purpose and Summary: Lead a dynamic petroleum sales team across Illinois and South Carolina. Develop and execute marketing strategies to ensure profitability, supervise and develop sales personnel, and manage procurement and risk for petroleum products. Key responsibilities include setting performance goals, managing sales activities, and maintaining beneficial vendor relationships. Requires a bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience, strong business acumen, excellent communication skills, and the ability to travel and work extended hours as needed.
Supervision and Leadership:
Provide leadership and development to the energy sales team. Set performance expectations, offer feedback, and maintain performance standards.Essential Job Functions:
Develop and implement comprehensive petroleum marketing plans, including communications, strategic initiatives, and budget targets. Ensure department profitability through targeted marketing, competitive analysis, pricing strategies, and effective management of personnel and assets. Lead the sales team by setting performance goals, managing sales activities, engaging with key customers, and acting as a liaison for company communications and public relations. Oversee the procurement of petroleum products, ensuring alignment between supply and sales efforts. Establish annual sales goals and objectives that align with company targets, manage incentive programs, and oversee their implementation. Monitor customer creditworthiness and manage accounts receivable in collaboration with the A/R administrator and credit manager. Develop and implement risk management plans for petroleum products.Other Job Functions:
Build and maintain beneficial relationships with petroleum product vendors. Recruit, select, and retain high-quality personnel. Train, coach, counsel, and discipline employees to develop their talents. Conduct and assist with training and informational meetings. Contribute to the company budget by forecasting sales volumes, margins, and expenses. Support and contribute to overall company goals through collaborative efforts. Perform other duties as assigned.Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree in business or a related field, or equivalent experience. Minimum of 5 years of relevant business experience, demonstrating the ability to supervise employees, generate profitable sales, build a customer base, and gain market share. Strong business knowledge, collaboration, communication, customer focus, decision-making, and skill development abilities. Proficiency in competitive analysis, inventory management, customer credit assessment, and petroleum product knowledge. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Strong computer skills and the ability to learn company systems and processes. Adherence to company values and ethical standards. Valid driver’s license and satisfactory driving record. Ability to travel independently and overnight as needed. Willingness to work extended hours or be on call as business conditions require. Ability to obtain and maintain professional certifications related to the petroleum industry.BENEFITS
