Position Summary: 

 

PGIM Fixed Income Portfolio Specialists are investment professionals that specialize in a fixed income sector. They are recognized internally and externally as experts in their area. These professionals use their highly specialized knowledge of financial markets and client demand across institutional and retail channels to lead business opportunities within their sector or investment style. Furthermore they are responsible for representing their firm investment capabilities to clients, consultants and prospects. 

 

For this position candidates should demonstrate a mastery of fixed income markets and experience in the management or oversight of securitized product portfolios.  Importantly, this role will sit with and be part of the securitized product investment team while reporting to the head of the portfolio specialist group.    

 

It is imperative that a candidate have experience in ABS, CLOs, CMBS, RMBS and be able to clearly articulate investment strategy, performance/attribution, positioning as well as outlook to both external as well as internal stakeholders of varying degrees of market expertise.    

 

Primary Responsibilities: 

Objective: Develop a deep understanding of PGIM’s securitized offerings as well as develop and execute the desks communications to both institutional and retail clients and prospects.   

 

To do this effectively, the successful candidate will be the subject matter expert within securitized products and should be able to clearly communicate our capabilities, competitive advantages, process, performance history, market views, risk management, portfolio construction/positioning and outlook.  This will be done both virtually as well as in person through multiple channels such as: 

Portfolio reviews 

Product pitches  

Roadshows/conferences 

Market updates and outlooks  

Educational presentations 

Written responses to client/prospect inquiries  

Product expertise for marketing materials including slides and RFPs  

 

While the degree will vary based on the candidate and their experience, a successful candidate will provide market views, participate in investment strategy meetings and contribute to the overall investment process.   

 

This role will need to proactively deliver market and investment expertise/content to the relationship management, consultant relations and sales teams as well as educate them on how to best position and communicate our securitized offerings.  This will be done primarily through: 

Ensuring proper/effective follow-up with clients and prospects. 

Support marketing campaigns. 

Initiate and write thought pieces/outlooks.  

Deliver timely views on market events to the above-mentioned teams.  

Lead internal educational meetings with the above-mentioned teams. 

 

Additionally, the role will collaborate with the product development team and marketing regarding new/existing offerings, competitive analysis and continue to help enhance RFP responses, marketing material and reports.   

 

Travel both domestically and internationally is required and while it will vary based on demand, expect travel to be 20-40%.   

 

Competencies and attributes: 

Strong communication skills both verbal and written - candidates must clearly and effectively communicate complex strategies to highly sophisticated as well as more hands-off allocators.   

Proactive self-starter with an entrepreneurial mindset, ability to adapt and a positive attitude.   

High level of organizational skills and the ability to prioritize work according to business needs. 

Ability to forge trusting relationships both externally as well as internally.  

 

Required Qualifications: 

7+ years of securitized product experience, preferably on the buy-side and a strong knowledge of securitized product investment strategies.   

Must have market experience and not only client experience - prior experience as a risk-taker or oversight of risk-takers is necessary: portfolio managers, allocators/investors, junior portfolio managers, consultant, analyst or similar required.

Note: Prudential is required by state specific laws to include the salary range for this role when hiring a resident in applicable locations. The salary range for this role is from $200,000 to $225,000. Specific pricing for the role may vary within the above range based on many factors including geographic location, candidate experience, and skills. Roles may also be eligible for additional compensation and/or benefits. Eligibility to participate in a discretionary annual incentive program is subject to the rules governing the program, whereby an award, if any, depends on various factors including, without limitation, individual and organizational performance.
