Job Summary

This position, under the direct supervision of a registered pharmacist, assists in the procurement, storage, preparation, distribution, and delivery of medications and other pharmaceutical products to Frye Regional Medical Center patients in a timely and accurate fashion and in accordance with established regulations and procedures.

Essential Functions

Assists pharmacist(s) in filling medication ordersPreparing medications and supplies for dispensing, including:Repackaging bulk medicationsCompounding ointments and creams, oral solutions, and other medicationsDelivers medications to patient care areas and retrieves pharmacy related itemsAccurately restocks automated dispensing cabinets according to inventory levelsCharges and credits patient profiles for medications used or returned to the pharmacyAssists with inventory management by stocking fluids and medications on shelvesInspects assigned out of date sections and/or nursing units or operating rooms on a monthly basisAnswering phone calls and handling questions that do not require pharmacist expertise or judgment and routing calls to the appropriate party as necessaryMaintains compliance and understanding of Compounding Sterile Products Policy and USPPrepares IVs, PCAs, Epidurals in accordance with CSP Policy and USPAssists with training and orientation of new teammates to department workflow and procedures

Minimum Education

High School Diploma or equivalent required

Licenses/Certifications

Current certification with the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB)Registration with the North Carolina Board of Pharmacy (NCBOP) within 30 days of hire

Minimum Work Experience

0-3 years of hospital pharmacy experience
