Job Title: Pharmacist

Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated and knowledgeable Pharmacist to interpret orders, transcribe or verify them accurately and efficiently in the pharmacy computer system. The successful candidate will accurately compound and dispense pharmaceuticals, monitor drug therapy regimens, and provide timely medication information to healthcare staff and patients. This role requires effective interaction with medical staff regarding drug therapy issues, accurate documentation of clinical activities and interventions, and supervision of pharmacy technicians and other support staff.

ResponsibilitiesInterpret orders and transcribe or verify them accurately and efficiently in the pharmacy computer system.Accurately compound and dispense pharmaceuticals.Monitor drug therapy regimens for contraindications, drug-drug interactions, drug-food interactions, allergies, and appropriateness of drug and dose.Provide accurate and timely medication information to healthcare staff and patients.Effectively and proactively interact with medical staff regarding drug therapy issues.Document all clinical activities and interventions accurately and completely.Sustain the hospital formulary, minimizing non-formulary procurements, utilizing therapeutic interchanges and other approved formulary protocols.Supervise and assist pharmacy technicians and other support staff effectively.Train and participate with Disaster Team drills and real-event response as assigned.Prioritize work and lead others to comply with facility medication turn-around time policy and procedure.Identify areas for improved efficiency.Actively participate in staff meetings and attend staff development in pharmaceutical care.Support in the training and mentorship of new staff members.Serve as preceptor for pharmacy students and/or residents.Support and participate in the goals of the organization’s quality improvement, risk management, and patient safety program.Maintain professional competency sufficient to meet current and future needs of the facility.Maintain appropriate controlled substance records.Comply with all regulatory standards.Make appropriate evidence-based, patient-centered medication recommendations.Participate in the management of medical emergencies as appropriate.Provide clinical consultation and clarification to practitioners.Suggest appropriate, cost-effective therapeutic alternatives to medical staff.Work with the Pharmacy Director or Operations Manager to identify and develop processes to meet or exceed all regulatory standards.Essential SkillsPharmacy degree (B.S. or Pharm D.) from an ACPE-accredited School of Pharmacy.Active Pharmacist license in good standing with the Oklahoma State Board of Pharmacy.1 year of hospital pharmacy experience (new grads will be considered).BLS certification required within 90 days of hire.ACLS certification required for attending medical emergencies.Work Environment

This position involves working the evening shift as an Inpatient Pharmacist at a 656-bed hospital, which includes The Alexander Burn Center, The Peggy V. Helmerich Women’s Health Center, Kaiser Rehabilitation Center, the latest technology for the treatment of cancer, and the Oklahoma Heart Institute. Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $130000.00 - $150000.00/yr.

benefits starts 1st day of the month following 30 days of employment
