The basic function of the Pharmacist is to interpret all medication orders as safe and proper, to execute all phases of inpatient, outpatient and employee medication distribution such as dispensing, packing and labeling, maintain a thorough knowledge and understanding of drugs and drug therapy, provide training and supervision for non-professional Pharmacy staff, provide drug information and training for various hospital personnel, patients and the community, and provides other Pharmacy services established in the Policy & Procedure Manual Guidelines.
Requirements:
The Pharmacist must have a Bachelor of Science degree in Pharmacy or a Doctor of Pharmacy degree with experience in hospital pharmacy preferred. Must be licensed to practice in New York State or eligible to become licensed.
Responsibilities:
• Comply with all state and federal laws and regulations, policies and procedures of Ellis Medicine and standards of affiliated accrediting organizations.
• Must be able to demonstrate a complete understanding and knowledge of New York State and Federal Laws governing the practice of pharmacy. New York State Licensure must be maintained in good standing including all continued educational requirements.
• Maintains current knowledge and skills necessary to perform competently. Work must be accurate, thorough and attention to detail is evident.
• Assure that company resources are utilized responsibly and that the working environment is clean, safe and in compliance with required workplace standards.
• Communicate relevant departmental information to the nursing and medical staff as needed.
• Seek opportunities in collaboration with management to streamline processes, implement process improvement activities and resolve conflicts.
• Scheduling and Personal Time Expectations: a. Ellis Medicine and Ellis Hospital Pharmacy is an acute care facility that operates pursuant to and under New York State licensure 24 hours a day, 7 days a week annually. b. The work week could consist of a mixture of days, evenings, overnights, weekends and holidays as required to meet staffing standards. c. Any pharmacist hired within this position would be responsible for covering any of the shifts described above as staffing requires. Every effort will be made to distribute these assignments fairly and equitably based on seniority. d. This position will accrue PPT benefit time commensurate with the employee’s years of service and eligibility as per Organizational Policy 3422 Paid Personal Time. EST will accrue per Organizational Policy 3370 Extended Sick Time.
Salary Range: $49.55-$79.28 /hour Pay is based on experience, skills, and education. Exempt positions under the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) will be paid within the base salary equivalent of the stated hourly rates. The pay range may also vary within the stated range based on location.
