Job Details Pharmacists fill orders for parenteral and enteral medications, monitor patient drug therapies, and provide drug information. Staff pharmacists supervise and direct support personnel. In the absence of the pharmacy manager/supervisor, a staff pharmacist may be required to assume the essential responsibilities and perform the duties of the pharmacy manager. Responsibilities: Demonstrates accuracy in dispensing of all medications. Compounds and dispenses pharmaceuticals, including intravenous admixtures, chemotherapy, and parenteral nutrition products accurately. Issues controlled substances to patient care areas and maintains records as required by law. Monitors drug therapy regimens for contraindications, drug-drug interactions, allergies, and appropriateness of drug and dose. Reads, extracts, and interprets information in patient charts accurately. Detects and reports suspected adverse drug events accurately in a timely manner. Sustains the formulary by minimizing non formulary procurements, utilizing therapeutic substitution protocols, and promoting rational drug therapy selection. Provides clinical consultation and clarification to practitioners. Suggests appropriate, cost-effective therapeutic alternatives to medical staff as needed. Provides accurate drug information to professional staff. Provides drug information to patients and families when needed. Documents all clinical activities and interventions accurately and completely. Participates in quality improvement and medication use review activities of the department. Readily participates in orientation/training of new employees as directed. Works independently with minimal supervision. Organizes and prioritizes work assignments. Ensures that pharmacy services are provided in a timely manner. Completes and documents monthly inspections of all assigned medication storage areas in a timely and comprehensive manner. Inspection assignments are completed without supervisor intervention. Requirements: Graduate of an ACPE-accredited School of Pharmacy with a BS in Pharmacy, an MS in Pharmacy or a Doctor of Pharmacy. NYS Pharmacy license required. Oncology pharmacy board certification preferred (BCOP). Basic and advanced computer skills; proficient in the use of Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. Able to maintain concentration and accuracy despite a busy environment. Outstanding oral and written communication skills. Able to work collaboratively on a multidisciplinary team. Health system pharmacy experience preferred but not required. Salary Range USD $63.70 - USD $79.62 /Hr. This range serves as a good faith estimate and actual pay will encompass a number of factors, including a candidate’s qualifications, skills, competencies and experience. The salary range or rate listed does not include any bonuses/incentive, differential pay or other forms of compensation that may be applicable to this job and it does not include the value of benefits.
