Job Description

We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Pharmacist to join our team. In this role, you will accurately prepare medications for final dispensing to patients, review completed orders, verify the legality and feasibility of dispensing drugs, and interpret prescription orders. You will also adhere to all federal and state regulations, transfer prescriptions, answer questions from patients and healthcare professionals, and evaluate inventory levels.

ResponsibilitiesAccurately prepare medications for final dispensing to patients, including filling, order entry, and packaging.Review completed orders and cycle-fill medications to ensure prescriptions were filled correctly.Verify the legality and pharmaceutical feasibility of dispensing a drug based on patients' allergies, incompatibilities with current medications, and frequency of refills.Interpret prescription orders, exercising professional judgment in determining whether to dispense a particular prescription while considering patient safety and legal limitations.Adhere to all Federal and State Board of Pharmacy regulations.Follow all applicable guidelines for compounding medications.Transfer prescriptions to other pharmacies as needed.Answer questions from patients, doctors, nurses, and other healthcare professionals.Evaluate inventory levels and place orders when below par.Research the most cost-effective products for exception items.Notify customers or facilities if a product is out of stock and provide an estimated time for order fulfillment.Restock station supplies as needed, including vials, cassettes, labels, and delivery tickets.Oversee the work of all technicians and provide feedback to their supervisor regarding their performance.Log all medication error occurrences.Perform other essential functions and duties as needed.Essential SkillsMust be a registered pharmacist in the State of Iowa or a Doctor of Pharmacy (Pharm D) in the State of Iowa.High attention to detail and ability to handle high volume script filling and high output.Strong customer service skills.Experience with inventory management.Knowledge of compounding and pharmacology.Work Environment

You will be working in a closed-door pharmacy. The current team consists of 4 pharmacists, and we are looking to add a 5th member. The working hours are Monday to Friday with varying shifts between 8 am to 7:30 pm, either 5x8 or 4x10 schedules. You will be on call one night a week until 10 pm and will work every 4th weekend with shifts on Saturday from 9 am to 3 pm and Sunday from 12 pm to 4 pm.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $55.00 - $65.00/hr.
