Job Description
We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented pharmacist to join our team. The pharmacist will be responsible for accurately preparing medications for final dispensing, reviewing completed orders, verifying prescriptions, and ensuring adherence to all Federal and State Board of Pharmacy regulations. This role requires a high level of customer service and interaction with patients, doctors, and nurses. The position is based in a closed-door pharmacy setting, working primarily with scripts for a nursing home.
ResponsibilitiesAccurately prepare medications for final dispensing to the patient, including filling, order entry, and packaging.Review completed orders and cycle-fill medications to ensure prescriptions were filled correctly.Verify the legality and pharmaceutical feasibility of dispensing a drug based on patients' allergies, incompatibilities with current medications, frequency of refills, etc.Interpret prescription orders, exercising professional judgment in determining whether to dispense a particular prescription.Adhere to all Federal and State Board of Pharmacy regulations.Adhere to all applicable guidelines for compounding.Transfer prescriptions to other pharmacies as needed.Answer questions from patients, doctors, nurses, etc.Evaluate inventory levels and place orders when below par.Look up the most cost-effective product to order on exception items.Notify customers/facilities if a product is out of stock and when the order can be filled.Restock station supplies as needed, such as vials, cassettes, labels, delivery tickets, etc.Oversee the work of all technicians and provide feedback to their supervisor regarding their performance.Log all error medication occurrences.Other essential functions and duties as assigned.Essential SkillsMust be a registered pharmacist in the State of Iowa or hold a Doctor of Pharmacy (Pharm D) in the State of Iowa.High attention to detail.Experience in high volume script filling and high output.Excellent customer service skills.Knowledge of inventory management.Experience in compounding and pharmacology.Additional Skills & QualificationsBachelor's Degree in Pharmacy required.State of Iowa Pharmacist License required without restrictions.If not licensed in the State of Iowa, the candidate must pass the Iowa Law Exam with the State of Iowa Pharmacy Board prior to accepting the role.Work Environment
The position is based in a closed-door pharmacy setting, primarily working with scripts for a nursing home. The staff includes four current pharmacists, and we are looking to add a fifth member to the team. The hours are Monday to Friday with varying shifts between 8 am and 7:30 pm, working either 5x8 or 4x10. The pharmacist will be on call one night a week until 10 pm and will work every fourth weekend, with hours on Saturday from 9 am to 3 pm and on Sunday from 12 pm to 4 pm.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $55.00 - $65.00/hr.
