Responsibilities

Assure the appropriate selection, dosing, administering, and dispensing of medication orders in specialized areas, such as nuclear medicine, oncology, cardiology. Serve as a subject matter expert in pharmacy discipline and provide guidance across pharmacies and to clinical leadership.

Review and assess medication orders to identify, prevent and resolve potential and actual drug related problems.Recommend formulary alternatives when appropriate.Compound and dispense medications for accurate delivery to patients.Provide drug information and education to medical staff and patients.Communicate with physicians and other clinicians as necessary to facilitate care.Oversee technical personnel who assist in the preparation, maintenance, and dispensing of medications and supplies.Assist with academic functions such as serving as a preceptor for pharmacy students.May float to provide coverage of pharmacy needs.Provide patient counseling when required.
Requirements

Licensure / Certification / Registration:

Pharmacist credentialed from the Maryland Board of Pharmacy obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date required.

Education:

Bachelor's or advanced degree in Pharmacy required.
Additional Preferences

Education

Graduate of an ACPE accredited College of PharmacyDoctor of Pharmacy or other advanced degree highly preferred

Experience

Completion of an ASHP accredited PGY-1 Pharmacy Residency required Completion of an ASHP accredited PGY-2 Pediatric Pharmacy Residency is preferredClinical pharmacy experience (2-4 years) in a hospital setting preferred (required if no PGY-2 residency)Board of Pharmacy Specialists certification in Pediatric Pharmacy preferredKnowledge of contemporary hospital/clinical practice and service Significant knowledge and expertise in advanced pharmacy practice, specialty medication therapy management, and specialty evidence-based medicine in pediatrics, neonatal intensive care and maternal health.
