This is a flex position that will support clinical services such as Intradisciplinary Rounds, Medication Reconciliation, Meds to Beds Education, as well as PTO coverage for all shifts (including days, evenings, night and some weekends).
Position Summary: Responsible for preparing and dispensing medications for patients within the Hospital. Provides those other services which may be required as part of the daily operating activities of the Pharmacy Department; compounds and dispenses medications and other pharmaceutical supplies, using standard physical and clinical procedures to fill written prescriptions issued by physicians, dentists, and other qualified prescribers.
Education, License & Cert: Doctor of Pharmacy or Bachelor of Pharmacy from an accredited School of Pharmacy. Current License as pharmacist in NYS and preferably PA.
Experience: Previous experience in hospital pharmacy practice preferred but not required.
Essential Functions: 1. Dispenses medications per established department procedures. 2. Extemporaneous preparation of medications. 3. Compiles and disseminates drug information; provides information to physicians and other staff members on availability of new drugs, warnings on currently marketed drugs, incompatibility of certain drugs, and contraindications of drugs and other pharmaceuticals. 4. Acts in an advisory capacity to other hospital departments and staff with regard to relevant aspects of pharmaceutical science. 5. Monitors dispensing of controlled medications and maintains control substance records, poisons, as required by Federal and State laws and per established department procedures. 6. Prepares intravenous admixtures, piggyback medications, TPN’s, and chemotherapy doses. 7. Participates in DUE (Drug Induced Evaluation) to ensure appropriate pharmacotherapy is delivered in a cost effective manner. 8. Participates in ADR reporting process. 9. Participated in continuing education programs to maintain professional competency and licensure. 10. Participates in PEP (Professional Experience Program) for pharmacy student externs. 11. Analyzes and evaluates department procedures with a view toward the future of the needs and operation of the Pharmacy Department at Corning Hospital. 12. Provides supervision of and lends assistance, as needed, to the Pharmacy Technicians. 13. Stays informed on current trends and issues in the field through attendance at seminars, as necessary, and journal readings. 14. Adheres to all departmental and organizational policies and procedures.

The pay range for this position is $47.14 - $74.67/hr
