Summary:
We are currently seeking a PRN pharmacist to support our Rex Pharmacy of Raleigh. The PRN pharmacist will also support other system retail pharmacy sites (UNC Pharmacy at Panther Creek, UNC Pharmacy at Eastowne, Johnston Health Outpatient Pharmacy, and the Shared Services Center Pharmacy). We are looking for a highly motivated, energetic, and dynamic pharmacist to join the system retail pharmacies. The pharmacist will have exceptional communication, organizational, and team building skills in addition to having a thorough understanding of retail operations and workflow management, inventory management, , clinical skills, , and customer service.. This pharmacist will work closely with the Pharmacist Coordinator and management to address inefficiencies and barriers as they arise and help to resolve pharmacy-related concerns as they are reported by the team.
This is a PRN position with expected 4 to 10 hours per week, including some weekend shifts. Certified immunizer preferred. Retail pharmacy experience preferred.
Responsibilities:
1. Receives prescriptions, interprets prescriptions, and reviews the patient's medication profile /history. Clarifies incomplete, inaccurate, or contraindicated prescriptions with the prescriber, nurse, or other health professional, as appropriate. Identifies and intervenes on problems related to the medication needs of the patient.
2. Utilizes and analyzes patient data to provide optimal drug therapy recommendations. Assesses the patient's medication therapy regimen and makes appropriate clinical interventions with the provider. Performs protocol-driven clinical services such as immunizations, nicotine replacement therapy, long-acting injectable administration, etc.
3. Dispense medications to patients pursuant to prescriptions, with accurate processing of claims to minimize insurance payment rejections and audit findings.
4. Direct workflow, supervise pharmacy personnel (including verification of medication fills completed by pharmacy technicians) and ensure completion of all necessary tasks for optimal functioning of the pharmacy.
5. Complies with the medication formulary, therapeutic substitution, and other programs designed to optimize drug therapy while minimizing cost as required.
6. Completes required documentation such as notations in the medical record, controlled substances documentation, cash register reconciliation, competency, etc. as required.
7. Counsels patients and appropriate family members regarding pharmaceutical care issues as requested or required, including answering questions about medication side effects, interactions, and contraindications, as well as providing over-the-counter product recommendations.
8.- Demonstrate positive customer service skill to ensure patients feel welcome, important and appreciated.
9. Adheres to federal, state, local, and institutional policies, procedures, standards, and regulations.
10. Identifies and participates in process improvement opportunities.
11. Precepts students, residents and participates in training new pharmacy staff as required.

**Education Requirements:**
● PharmD or BS Pharmacy Degree
**Licensure/Certification Requirements:**
● Active pharmacist licensure with the NC Board of Pharmacy or obtainable before initiation of employment. Recent graduates of ACPE-accredited colleges/schools of pharmacy may fill this role while pending initial pharmacist licensure, but are subject to limitations mandated by the NC Board of Pharmacy and must obtain licensure within 6 months of orientation or sooner if required for operations.
**Professional Experience Requirements:**
● No prior experience required; however, prior retail pharmacy experience strongly preferred.
