Job Description
We are looking for a detail-oriented Pharmacy Assistant to join our team. The role involves preparing medications for shipment, tracking deliveries, and maintaining the pharmacy's orderliness. This position requires excellent organizational skills and the ability to work under pressure while providing compassionate service to our cancer patients.
ResponsibilitiesPrepare medications for shipment to ensure the integrity, sterility, and stability of drugs and supplies.Electronically track shipments to confirm on-time delivery throughout the day, Monday through Saturday until all packages are delivered.Follow all designated checklists with attention to detail.Communicate directly with patients regarding expected arrival times, delays in delivery, and explain recovery strategies.Coordinate the dissemination of information to patients regarding holiday and unscheduled closings via package inserts approved by the manager.Review shipping manifests daily to confirm delivery addresses and delivery times.Work closely with the Pharmacy team regarding start dates, demographic information, and alternate shipping addresses.Reconcile shipping supply packing slips with invoices and forward them to the manager with appropriate notations.Reconcile carrier invoices with shipping manifests for accuracy in billing.Provide weekly shipping abstracts and usage reports to the supervisor.Reset the shipping room at the end of each day to prepare for the next business day.Maintain and clean the packing area and pharmacy by disinfecting countertops and vacuuming.Maintain orderliness in the storage room and offsite storage unit.Lock and secure the pharmacy storage room, study drug area, and packing room at the end of each business day.Handle discarding of trash and cardboard and coordinate emptying times with the contractor.Essential SkillsHigh School diploma required.Minimum one year of experience in shipping and receiving preferred.Excellent customer service skills including the ability to listen and interpret people’s dispositions.Ability to perform under pressure.Capacity for compassion regarding our cancer patients.Experience in shipping and dispatching.Experience with inventory management.Fundamental knowledge of computers including the ability to create and manipulate MS Word and MS Excel documents.Excellent time management and organizational skills.Flexible and multi-task-oriented worker.Ability to communicate effectively.Additional Skills & QualificationsExperience in inventory management.Ability to create and manipulate MS Word documents.Ability to create and manipulate MS Excel documents.Work Environment
This position is onsite with a schedule of Monday to Friday from 9 am to 6 pm, with overtime available if needed. The work environment includes standing for long periods and maintaining cleanliness in the packing area and pharmacy. Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $18.00 - $25.00
