Pharmacy Business Specialist

The Network Pharmacy Business Specialist works under the direct supervision of the Network Pharmacy Business Manager and aids in all aspects of purchasing and financial management for the Network Hospital Pharmacies. JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: + Assists with receiving and screening incoming calls and routes calls to specific areas in the pharmacy and records messages as required. Assists with greeting visitors to the Pharmacy Department. + Enters computer data of charges from pre-printed forms, universal request forms, appropriate outpatient prescriptions, medication administration records, parenteral fluid records, Controlled Drug Module charges, anesthesia records, O.R. Pre-op/ Procedure records, PACU records, perfusion sheets, code records, GI Lab records, controlled substance records, reconciles controlled substance records, to include monitoring and reporting discrepancies and all other appropriate billing documents/records for all serviced entities/sources + Separates and distributes computer reports, from automated dispensing cabinets and other related billing documents. + Enters charges from Manually Admitted Patient Reports, keeps records, and reconciles missing patient information by working with appropriate Nurse/Unit Managers. + Compiles Ambulance, Hospice, floor-stock charges and other site/ off site billing data (to include usage/pricing) for monthly report generation for Finance or other appropriate departments + Reviews network floorstock charges with Business Manager to maintain consistency and appropriateness. + Works with Network Business Manager for Contract and Product management for all network purchases, to include running appropriate reports and collating data in to spreadsheets. + Works with Network Business Manager on bill code updates and other related Network projects and initiatives. + Reviews and enters network pricing updates from wholesaler data and direct purchase invoices. Watches for contract, product, and auto-sub program appropriateness. Works with the pharmacy buyers in the network to notify of product opportunity. + Network responsibilities to include but not limited to entering and monitoring daily charge error reports, exception reports for correct med charges, meds from home list for charge accuracy, templated medication entry review/correction, assistance with Hi/Low charging errors/correction, non-formulary/late charges utilizing appropriate systems, Network Insurance Summary reports for Finance. + Works with all network pharmacy departments to ensure local billing processes are consistent with other locations reporting any opportunity or potential issues to the Network Business Manager. + Utilizes effective interpersonal communication skills while maintaining confidentiality of hospital information and addresses co-workers, nurses and others in a pleasant and cooperative manner. + Performs routine activities with minimal supervision, offers to provide additional help when needed, and participates in training of new employees. PHYSICAL AND SENSORY REQUIREMENTS: Sitting for up to eight hours per day and up to two consecutive hours; walking for up to one hour per day and up to 10 consecutive minutes. Continuously fingering; occasionally handling, firm grasping and twisting. Frequently lifting and carrying up to 50 pounds; rarely pushing and pulling up to 100 pounds. Occasionally stooping and bending; rarely crouching and squatting; rarely reaching above shoulder level. Hearing as it relates to normal conversation, high frequency. Seeing as it relates to general vision, color vision and visual monotony. EDUCATION: High school graduate. TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE: Data entry, Microsoft Office (Word, Excel) and general computer skills and telephone etiquette experience preferred with background in pharmacy and pharmacy purchasing.
