Responsibilities

This position is in the outpatient compounding pharmacy in Rochester, MN.

Pharmacy Tech levels 1 - 5:

Assists the pharmacist in providing optimal pharmaceutical care to the patient. Gathers, labels and distributes medications accurately and efficiently. Packages, prepares, and safely compounds medications including hazardous substances accurately and efficiently. Handles, manages and distributes controlled substances in compliance with regulatory requirements and department policies; and assists with drug diversion surveillance. Assists with maintaining accurate medication inventories and billing of medications. Effectively communicates utilizing established systems and processes. Assists with training new staff.

Qualifications

Note: These qualifications apply to the Pharmacy Tech level 1, which are the minimum qualifications that must be met for all levels.

Minimum Qualifications

High School diploma or equivalent. 

Additional Qualifications

Prior experience as a compounding pharmacy technician.Able to learn technical tasks including software computer applications and keyboarding. Able to follow written and verbal directions. Able to apply math and calculator skills along with a working knowledge of the metric system. Possess strong telephone and verbal communication skills. Demonstrated ability to work in a busy environment and pay attention to detail. Proven organizational and problem-solving skills. Proven ability to effectively work both independently and in a team environment. Performs without assistance; recognized as a resource to others; able to translate complex nuances to others; able to improve processes; focus on broad issues. No history of drug abuse or misuse; or proof of successful completion of a certified drug abuse rehabilitation program is required. 

License or Certification

Current registration with the MN Board of Pharmacy, or eligible for registration. National Pharmacy Technician Certification (PTCB preferred) required within 12 months of start date.

Compensation Detail

Education, experience and tenure may be considered along with internal equity when job offers are extended. Note: This pay range spans from the minimum for a Tech I to the maximum for a Tech V. Placement within a level and within the range is dependent on experience and qualifications. $20.07 - $38.85 / hour
