As a Pharmacy Tech at MercyOne, you will as an integral member of the pharmacy team (under the supervision of a pharmacist), is responsible for working with newly admitted patients to obtain and document an accurate medication list to help avoid medication duplications, omissions, and errors. The information obtained will be entered into a computer system. + Prepares unit dose medications by repackaging following established departmental procedures. Packages and labels medications as appropriate. + Develops proficiency in use of the pharmacy outpatient computer system, including but not limited to prescription preparation, third party billing and reversal of claims. + Supports maintaining inventory of drugs and supplies. Maintains records as requested. + Appropriately receives and documents shipments of pharmaceuticals and supplies, unpacks, prices, and properly places them into inventory as requested. Maintains pharmacy areas in a clean and orderly manner. + Develops understanding of the enterprise phone system including but not limited to call transfer, parking, paging, and message taking. + Develops skills in effective communication with patients, public, hospital personnel and fellow employees, in person and via telephone. + Develops understanding of basic computer skills for area of responsibility. Develops understanding and familiarity with pharmacy equipment and software and follows policy and/or procedure associated use. + Develops skills associated with the Automated medication dispensing system (Pyxis). Utilizes the system according to department expectations. + Completely and efficiently fills and delivers medications, orders, and supplies to and from patient care units and ancillary departments. **Schedule:** + Varies according to department needs, will include some weekends and holidays. Typically 10hr shifts 6:45 am-5:15 pm or 12:30 pm-11pm **General Requirements:** + Basic math and typing skills required. + Previous experience in pharmacy setting helpful, but not required. + Medical and/or science background helpful, but not required. + Must have a general working knowledge of computer **Education:** + Must have a High School diploma or GED.
