Overview As a Pharmacy Technician in our community pharmacy, you will play a vital role in supporting both the pharmacy team and the patients we serve. Your responsibilities will extend beyond traditional prescription dispensing to include patient-centered, proactive care. This role offers opportunities for professional growth, including certification to provide immunizations. Responsibilities Essential Duties and Responsibilities Prescription Management: • Accurately process, fill and label prescriptions for dispensing under the supervision of a pharmacist. • Initiate, follow-up, and obtain Prior Authorizations. • Prepare, send, and receive orders for medications and supplies; maintain inventory, ensuring medications are purchased and stored properly. Patient Engagement: • Identify and enroll patients in medication synchronization (med sync), ensuring all medications are prepared for pick-up on a single date each month or 90 days. • Conduct monthly follow-up calls with patients to confirm medication needs, discuss changes in medication regimens, and identify potential clinical interventions like immunizations. Clinical Support: • Assist pharmacists in delivering enhanced clinical services, including immunizations, medication therapy management (MTM), and chronic disease management. • Document patient care activities and coordinate with the broader healthcare team to ensure continuity of care. • Engage in proactive care strategies, identifying potential health issues early and working with pharmacists to implement preventative care measures. • Obtain certification to administer immunizations, expanding your role in providing supervised direct patient care. Workflow Optimization: • Contribute to the pharmacy’s shift from reactive to proactive patient care by adopting best practices for workflow innovation, including appointment-based models. • Participate in continuous quality improvement initiatives aimed at enhancing patient care and operational efficiency. Financial and Operational Tasks: • Maintain petty cash and change fund balances. • Proficiently handle all transactions at the point of sale. • Perform other duties as assigned under the direction of the pharmacist. Education and Experience High School Diploma or equivalent. Graduate of a pharmacy technician program preferred. Experience in a community pharmacy setting is preferred. Certification and Licensure Pharmacy Technician Licensure required Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT) or Certification through NHA required. Skills and Abilities Effective communication and customer service skills Ability to multitask and manage time effectively in a fast-paced environment Proficiency in using pharmacy management software and technology tools. Willingness to obtain immunization certification.
