Pharmacy Technician, Medical Specialty Prior Authorization

Compensation varies based on factors including, but not limited to, experience, skills, education, performance and salary range at the time of the offer._ **Responsibilities** The remote Pharmacy Technician, Medical Specialty Prior Authorization will coordinate tracking, review, escalation, approval, and documentation of prior authorization determination requests. This role will communicate decisions to physicians, providers and plan members through high volume phone calls. + Track and triage all coverage determination requests for prior authorizations, recipients and provider submissions. Determine if a pharmacist review is required. + Obtain verbal and written authorizations and request detailed clinical information from prescribers. Approve coverage determination requests based on defined criteria. + Enter and document coverage determination request decisions into the prior authorization application and notifies providers and/or plan members. + Respond to client inquiries regarding authorization determination. Notify physicians, providers and plan members of coverage determination request decisions. + Communicate with providers and members by phone. **Requirements** Licensure / Certification / Registration: Required Credential(s): One or more of the following: + Coder credentialed from the National Healthcareer Association obtained within 12 Months (1 year) of hire date or job transfer date. + Prior Auth Cert Specialist credentialed from the National Board of Prior Authorization Specialists obtained within 12 Months (1 year) of hire date or job transfer date. + Pharmacy Tech credentialed from the National Healthcareer Association obtained within 12 Months (1 year) of hire date or job transfer date. + Pharmacy Tech credentialed from the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) obtained within 12 Months (1 year) of hire date or job transfer date. Education: + High School diploma equivalency with 2 years of cumulative experience OR Associate's degree/Technical degree OR 4 years of applicable cumulative job specific experience required **Additional Preferences** + 2+ years Pharmacy Technician experience with Prior Authorizations for Health Plans or PBM. + Background working with specialty medications. + Current Pharmacy Technician licensure/registration in state of residence. + Strong technology skills with ability to navigate multiple systems in a remote team environment. + High level of detail-oriented and organization skills. + Excellent customer service phone skills **Why Join Our Team** Ascension associates are key to our commitment of transforming healthcare and providing care to all, especially those most in need.
