Pharmacy Technician

Description:

The Pharmacy Technician will assist with drug preparation and dispensing under the direct supervision of a Pharmacist.

•\tFills prescription items, as permitted by the State Board of Pharmacy, packaging medications for dispensing and for delivery, meeting the accuracy and productivity standards of the pharmacy

•\tLabels products appropriately, including cautionary or auxiliary labels

•\tParticipates in the periodic inventory of the pharmacy

•\tMay check in drugs and supplies, stock shelves and remove out-of-date items from the inventory

•\tPrepares medications including emulsions, liquids, powders and ointments, which may include non-sterile compounding

•\tMay process returned medications from the facility for credit or destruction

•\tAssists in the training of new employees

•\tServices facility-based medication dispensing machines

Additional Skills & Qualifications:

High school diploma or equivalent

6 months – 1 year of related experience

Licensed in the state of Tennessee

Attention to detail and be able to work under deadlines

Ability to use metric system and avoirdupois measures

Excellent oral and written communication skills

Excellent data entry and customer service skills

Must be a registered Pharmacy Technician in the state of Tennessee
