Job Title: Pharmacy Technician

Job Description

As a Fulfillment Pharmacy Technician, you will be responsible for filling prescription items, packaging medications for dispensing and delivery, and ensuring accuracy and productivity standards are met. You will label products appropriately, participate in periodic inventory, and prepare various types of medications including emulsions, liquids, powders, and ointments. You will also communicate with internal and external customers in a professional manner and may process returned medications for credit or destruction. Additional responsibilities may include working in the Controlled Drugs (Narcotics) Room, managing inventory functions, data entry, and servicing facility-based medication dispensing machines.

ResponsibilitiesFill prescription items as permitted by the State Board of Pharmacy.Package medications for dispensing and delivery, meeting accuracy and productivity standards.Label products appropriately, including cautionary or auxiliary labels.Participate in periodic inventory of the pharmacy.Check in drugs and supplies, stock shelves, and remove out-of-date items from inventory.Prepare medications including emulsions, liquids, powders, and ointments, which may include non-sterile compounding.Communicate with internal and external customers in a pleasant and professional manner.Process returned medications from the facility for credit or destruction.Work in the Controlled Drugs (Narcotics) Room.Operate automated machines to prepack drugs.Manage inventory functions such as monitoring pharmaceutical levels, identifying expired medications, and managing pharmacy standards for Days on Hand.Input patient data and medication orders into a computer system to produce labels (data entry).Mix/package IV medications, sanitize IV room, equipment, and hood.Service facility-based medication dispensing machines (e.g., RxNow).Perform other tasks as assigned.Essential SkillsPharmacy Technician Certification6+ months of Order Entry, Retail, and/or Fulfillment pharmacy experienceOregon Pharmacy Technician LicenseAbility to recognize and identify medicationsExcellent data entry skillsAbility to operate a computerHigh level of attention to detailEffective oral and written communication skillsTeam playerAdditional Skills & QualificationsHigh School Diploma or GEDLong Term Care pharmacy experience preferred but not requiredKnowledge of medical terminology, medication refill, prescription processing software, and pharmaceutical calculationsWork Environment

This position operates in a closed-door pharmacy environment focused on fulfilling the pharmaceutical needs of long-term care and geriatric living clients. The work schedule is Wednesday to Saturday with shifts on Wednesday and Friday from 10 AM to 8:30 PM, and Thursday and Saturday from 9 AM to 7:30 PM. The initial assignment length is 13 weeks with the potential for contract extension or conversion based on business needs and performance. Online training modules must be completed prior to starting. The work environment is non-retail, more production/fulfillment/warehouse oriented.
