Entry Level Pharmacy Technician

Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Pharmacy Technician to join our team. The ideal candidate will interact with caregivers, patients, and family members positively to build and maintain strong relationships. The Pharmacy Technician will assist pharmacists in preparing and dispensing medications and ensure the accurate processing and record-keeping of patient prescriptions. This role requires excellent customer service skills and the ability to problem solve to meet or exceed patient needs and safety standards.

ResponsibilitiesInteract with caregivers, patients, and family members in a positive manner to help build and maintain strong relationships.Problem solve and assist customers to meet or exceed patient needs and safety.Assist pharmacists in the preparation and dispensing of medications.Interact with customers, physicians, clinic staff, and facility staff professionally.Gather appropriate information to properly process a patient’s prescription.Maintain accurate records of medication and equipment dispensed to patients.Ensure accurate entry of patient data into pharmacy software programs.Enter correct insurance information into the system and ensure claims are properly adjudicated.Collaborate with co-workers, pharmacists, and vendors to resolve discrepancies and improve processes.Secure protected health information and required paperwork to comply with regulatory requirements, including OSHA and HIPAA.Process customer payments for prescriptions and charges on account.Maintain sufficient prescription inventory levels when ordering products for the pharmacy.Receive and store incoming products and supplies, including counting, stocking, and entering computer data.Assist in the development and training of department staff.Act as a team lead on weekend shifts.Participate actively on company teams.Attend and complete any mandatory training and events.Essential SkillsProficiency in pharmacy software programsStrong customer service skillsBasic computer proficiencyStrong attention to detailReliabilityAdditional Skills & QualificationsEntry-level candidates with basic computer skillsExperience in customer service, retail, or manufacturingGood work history Work Environment

This role is in a community pharmacy setting. The typical work schedule is 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM, four days a week, with start times varying between 7:00 AM and 9:00 AM. Another shift is 12:00 PM to 8:00 PM. You will work one Saturday every four weeks from 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM or 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM, with the preceding Friday shift from 12:00 PM to 8:00 PM. Additionally, one Sunday per quarter from 12:00 PM to 4:00 PM, coinciding with a scheduled Saturday shift. Appropriate days off will be provided to ensure no more than 40 hours per week. Full-time is preferred, but part-time options are available, including evening and weekend shifts.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $16.00 - $20.00
