Pharmacy Technician

We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Pharmacy Technician to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for compounding or admixing medications for chemotherapy under the supervision of a physician, ensuring all medication orders are accurate and compliant with department and OSHA guidelines. This role requires meticulous attention to detail and a strong understanding of pharmacy practices, particularly in oncology and chemotherapy.

ResponsibilitiesCompound or admix medications under the supervision of a physician.Check all orders for completeness of information.Verify patient information and proper physician authorization.Check all orders for insurance approval before admixing.Admix drugs accurately and in a timely manner as per department guidelines.Calculate correct dosage volumes, converting between metric and apothecary equivalents.Maintain indigent patient drug program as assigned.Count controlled drugs weekly and maintain records.Maintain current drug information and MSDS sheets.Log and date all drugs being used.Check drugs monthly for outdates and other quality assurance activities as assigned.Keep accurate temperature logs.Maintain accurate logs on all protocol drugs and patient assistance drugs.Maintain proper control documentation of medications, including lot numbers.Complete inventory control of medications.Receive and shelve medications.Assist lead admixture technician in ensuring adequate drug supplies in all departments.Prepare labels, file, and prepare billing.Perform efficient data entry into systems used by pharmacy and admixture.Essential SkillsPharmacy Technician certification (CPhT)1-5 years of experience mixing chemotherapy medicationExperience with compounding medicationExperience in oncologyHigh School DiplomaAbility to lift 40 lbsAdditional Skills & QualificationsExperience with data entryExperience in inventory managementKnowledge of pharmacy support and inpatient proceduresWork Environment

The work schedule is from 8:30 am to 5:00 pm, with no weekend shifts. The role involves working in a clean and well-maintained pharmacy environment, adhering to strict sanitation protocols to minimize particle counts.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $22.00 - $30.00/hr.
