Job Description

As a Pharmacy Technician, you will be responsible for manually filling prescription vials with prescribed tablets and capsules. You will read computer-generated screens to locate indicated merchandise on labeled shelves, verify size and strength, and perform basic mathematical reasoning to count or calculate the appropriate number of units needed to fill prescriptions. Additionally, you will replenish medication in automated dispensing cells, handle large quantities of product, and use a handheld scanner to enter expiration and lot information into the computer application. You will maintain a high level of focus to avoid cross-contamination, perform quality assurance checks for expired or damaged products, and prepare cold chain and specialty prescriptions according to specific handling and packing requirements.

ResponsibilitiesManually fill prescription vials with prescribed tablets and capsules.Read computer-generated screens to locate indicated merchandise on labeled shelves and verify size and strength.Perform basic mathematical reasoning to count or calculate the appropriate number of units needed to fill prescriptions.Replenish medication in automated dispensing cells to full capacity.Use a handheld scanner to scan barcodes of products and enter expiration and lot information into the computer application.Maintain a high level of focus to avoid cross-contamination.Perform quality assurance checks for expired and damaged products.Prepare cold chain and specialty prescriptions following special handling and packing requirements.Assist with packing and shipping of prescriptions.Understand and abide by federal and state HIPAA laws and pharmacy standard procedures to ensure patient safety and privacy.Complete weekly cycle counts as assigned by the Inventory Manager.Audit cell inventory by counting products at primary and secondary bin locations.Assist with research and identification of root causes of discrepancies as needed.Demonstrate problem resolution skills, recognize, address, and escalate issues to management.Review reports for errors.Essential SkillsPharmacy Technician certification (Pharm Tech National Cert through PTCB or ExCPT).Punctuality.Attention to detail.Ability to work independently with minimal guidance from management.Willingness to learn and adapt in a dynamic healthcare environment.Additional Skills & QualificationsPharmacy Technician License.National Certificate through PTCB or ExCPT (required if intending to work past 6 months or convert to a permanent employee).Work Environment

This position is for a Central Fill pharmacy located in Everett, WA, supplying patient-level prescriptions for a large retail national chain. The schedule is Monday to Friday evenings, with hours from Monday to Thursday 2:00 PM to 10:30 PM, and Friday 1:00 PM to 9:30 PM. Overtime can range between 1-4 hours. The role involves no patient interaction, phone answering, or dealing with insurance companies. The ideal candidate will accurately and efficiently fill prescription requests in a high-volume, automated refill setting under the supervision of a Pharmacist.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $26.00 - $26.00/hr.
