Job Description
The Pharmacy Technician is responsible for handling inbound and outbound calls to customers while ensuring a high level of customer service and maximizing productivity. This role involves direct in-person and phone-based customer interaction to answer and resolve a wide variety of inquiries. You will answer questions related to pharmacy services, delivery inquiries, complete refill calls, and provide pharmacy assistance. Additionally, you will handle and help resolve any customer complaints, process new pharmacy referrals, verify insurance coverage, facilitate prior authorization requests, transcribe prescriptions accurately, generate reports, coordinate deliveries, and serve as the first point of contact for service-related inquiries. You will also support pharmacological services by verifying fill lists, insurance information, billing, and updating patient information as necessary. This role requires maintaining patient records according to HIPAA privacy and security regulations. This is a non-exempt position reporting directly to the Pharmacy Manager or the Director of Operations in the absence of the Pharmacy Manager.
ResponsibilitiesRespond to inbound and outbound calls to customers.Ensure a high level of customer service and productivity.Answer and resolve a wide variety of inquiries related to pharmacy services.Handle customer complaints and provide resolutions.Receive and process new pharmacy referrals.Verify insurance coverage and facilitate prior authorization requests.Accurately transcribe prescriptions.Generate reports following the cycle fill calendar.Coordinate delivery and serve as the first point of contact for service-related inquiries.Support pharmacological services by editing fill list verification.Update patient information as necessary.Enter patient information into the patient record accurately and completely.Maintain all patient records according to HIPAA privacy and security regulations.Essential SkillsHigh School Diploma or GED.Completion of a board-approved pharmacy technician-training program.2+ years of experience in a medical insurance/billing/customer service environment.Strong knowledge of medication brands, generics, and dosing/day supply.Valid Florida Pharmacy Technician License.Advanced skill in Microsoft Office Suite (emphasis in Excel and Access preferred).Data entry experience.Willing to learn new computer software.Strong commitment and focus on customer service.Excellent verbal and written communication skills.Teamwork.Punctuality.Organization.Time Management.Problem-solving.Additional Skills & QualificationsDME experience.Telephonic customer service experience.Bilingual English-Spanish.Prior authorization experience.Work Environment
100% onsite in a clinic pharmacy. This is a fast-paced, high-volume pharmacy. The shift is Tuesday-Friday (9-5:30pm) and Saturdays (8am-2pm) or Tuesday-Friday (8:30-5:30pm). The team handles a volume of 1500 scripts per week. The staff includes 6 technicians and 3 pharmacists, with 3 technicians and 1 PharmD working on Saturdays. Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $20.00/hr.
