Pharmacy Technician Apprentice

Under the direct supervision of a pharmacist, Pharmacy Technician Apprentices function as trainees and gain knowledge in packaging, preparing, and distributing medications, inventory control, customer service, and maintaining pharmacy records. You will successfully complete and receive a diploma in Pharmacy Technology from the Cleveland Clinic School of Pharmacy Technology program within 12 months.
A caregiver in this position works 7:00am – 3:30pm.
A caregiver who excels in this role will:
Prepare medications (selection, labeling, repackaging, non-sterile compounding and sterile compounding).
Deliver medications to appropriate storage locations.
Maintain accurate and appropriate inventories of medications and supplies.
Maintain a safe and clean work area by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations.
Document regulatory requirements such as temperature logs, scheduled activities, and training in an accurate and timely manner.
Attend and actively participate in team huddles and meetings.
Use information systems, technology, and automation to complete assigned tasks.
Maintain good standing in the Cleveland Clinic School of Pharmacy Technology program per the student handbook.
Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:
High school diploma or GED.
Upon hire, registration as a Pharmacy Technician Trainee with the Ohio Board of Pharmacy. Registration as a Certified Pharmacy Technician with the Ohio Board of Pharmacy is required within 12 months.
Must obtain Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT) certification through the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) within 12 months.
Ability to perform algebraic calculations necessary for the preparation of extemporaneous compounds.
Basic computer skills.

Physical Requirements:
Typical physical demands include ability to perform the job while standing, walking, reaching, stretching and sitting for prolonged periods.
Manual dexterity sufficient to perform computer, dispensing, and compounding.
Personal Protective Equipment:
Follows Standard Precautions using personal protective equipment as required.
