Job Overview:
Under the supervision of a Pharmacist, the Pharmacy Technician fills routine orders for unit doses and prepackaged pharmaceuticals, and performs routine duties. The Pharmacy Technician is required to round on the nursing units, deliver medication, refill pyxis machines, and complete unit inspections as assigned. The Pharmacy Technician also answers the phones and helps with inquires.

Answers telephone by the third ring Identifies self and department and asks to assist the callerTakes accurate complete messagesCustomer SatisfactionMaintains cleanliness orderliness of the departmentFollows procedure for correcting problems with computers, fax machines, translogic and other automated devicesPerforms rounds for delivery of medications or ancillary products as assignedInventory ControlRestocks pharmacy dispensing area and suppliesReplenishes floor stock for patient care areas and ancillary departments as receivedProcesses emergency drug containersAccurately documents dispensing of controlled substances following department policyInspects all inventory for expiration dates and proper storageUnder direct supervision of pharmacist aids in non-interpretive pharmacy functions such as counting packaging labeling and filling medication ordersFiles delivers charges and credits patient medications as assignedAids in non-interpretive admixture functions under the direct supervision of a pharmacistRoutinely and promptly expedites delivery of patient medication via translogicKnowledge of appropriate drug dosages for all age groups under direction of pharmacistMedical healthcare error reportingSafe storage and monitoring of use of narcoticsSafe storage of paralytic agentsDouble check system for IV admixturesStocking and quality control for automatic dispensing machinesBenefits and Perks:
