REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS/SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
This position reports to the Manager, Jobst Medication Therapy Management and has no direct reports.
POSITION SUMMARY
Pharmacy technicians assist pharmacists in completing applications, gathering patient information, and maintaining patient records. Pharmacy technicians work only under the supervision of a registered pharmacist. Actively participates in the creation of an environment that fosters patient, family, provider, and employee satisfaction.
ACCOUNTABILITIES

1. Under the direction of a registered pharmacist, follows work assignments according to established policies, procedures, and protocols.
2. Under the direction of a registered pharmacist, completes applications and phone calls relating to prior authorizations, patient assistance, consult agreements, etc.
3. Under the direction of a registered pharmacist, assists with population health responsibilities and other reporting/tracking to help meet quality metrics.
4. Under the direction of the pharmacist, assists with medication reconciliation and transitions of care. Contacts pharmacies as needed to ensure appropriate documentation of medication list.
5. Under the direction of the pharmacist, prepares vaccinations for pharmacists to administer or administers oneself if certified, trained, and competencies have been completed and based on direction of State Board of Pharmacy.
6. Under the direction of the pharmacist, assist with scheduling new patient referrals and rescheduling any no-shows, cancellations, or overdues.
7. Provide department information, scheduling, and any counseling needed to ensure a smooth transition to Jobst Medication Therapy Management. Deliver medications to bedside as needed.
8. Assists in ordering, receiving, unpacking, and storing demos and supplies in appropriate locations. Replenish medication demos and patient educational materials.
9. Assists in completing all supply inspections and identifies and removes all outdated and unusable demos and supplies to meet Joint Commission requirements.
10. Assists with student and resident schedules and other duties as assigned in relation to learners. Assists with pharmacist schedules.
11. Collaborates with other health care professionals in meeting departmental goals. Establishes and maintains mechanisms for communication and constructive problem solving with staff. Utilizes a team approach in decision-making and problem solving. Builds trust and mutual respect.
12. Performs training of new employees and in-services current employees in areas of specialization and/or expertise.
13. 13. Is routinely responsible for special assignments in the area of continuous quality improvement and other projects as assigned by the manager.
14. Provides proper notification for absence or tardiness.
15. Maintains professional, helpful, and courteous relationships with all employees, patients, and their families.
16. Performs all duties and responsibilities in an ethical and responsible manner.
17. Supports the department in providing a vision for its direction and embraces the change process to achieve the vision.
18. Fosters the culture of patient safety by using the error prevention techniques.

23. Attends mandatory staff meetings and performs other related duties as assigned or requested.

OHIO: Certified Pharmacy Technician registration or Pharmacy Intern License with Ohio Board of Pharmacy. May be hired with a Registered Pharmacy Technician with restrictions in duties and expectation of Certified License being obtained within 6 months of hire.
MICHIGAN: Licensed Pharmacy Technician or Pharmacy Intern License with Michigan Board of Pharmacy. May be hired with a Temporary Pharmacy Technician License (expires 1 year from receipt) with expectation of Pharmacy Technician license and/or technician certification being obtained within 6 months of hire.
Certification: Certified Pharmacy Technician (either PTCB or ExCPT (NHA) exam permitted)

WORKING CONDITIONS
Personal Protective Equipment: Will wear appropriate PPE when compounding nonsterile, sterile, and hazardous products)
Physical Demands: Must be able to lift materials up to 50 pounds. Non-material handling of continuous sitting and reaching, standing, squatting, kneeling, walking, and stairs. Frequent manual manipulations may affect hands, wrists, elbows, and shoulders. Must be able to move about and between workstations
