The Opportunity:
Saint Luke’s Advanced Care and Home Infusion Pharmacy has a career opportunity for a highly qualified Pharmacy Technician with experience in home infusion. This is a full-time position located in Kansas City, Missouri. The Infusion Pharmacy is available for patients needing infusion services at home. The pharmacy provides a variety of services that include antibiotics, cardiac medications, parenteral and enteral nutrition, and a range of specialty medications to address chronic and rare diseases.
Shift: This will be a Monday – Friday dayshift position
The Work:
Under the direct supervision of a Pharmacist performs the following:
The technician will be for all duties of preparing and dispensing of medicationEnsure compliance with all USP 797 requirementsMixes sterile preparations Laminar Airflow Workbench (LAFW) using proper aseptic technique folllows clean room guidelines and accurately prepares IV solutions and other sterile productsMaintains accuracy in processing orders to ensure that all orders are processed and dispensed in a timely mannerUtilizes the Pharmacy Report to assist with maintaining appropriate level of inventory for the clinicAssists, as necessary, with the stocking of supplies, clinic organization, clean-up, etc.Assists to provide orientation and training to newly hired pharmacy techniciansWears appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) as outlined in the policy and procedure manualProperly disposes all hazardous and non – hazardous waste materialsKnowledgeable about the appropriate use of PPE and chemotherapy spill kits in the event of a cytotoxic spillPerforms calculations as necessary to prepare IV admixtures under the supervision of a Registered PharmacistAbility to utilize closed system transfer devicesKnowledge of policies and procedures set forth by USP 800 when handling hazardous medications. Potential to perform hazardous medication preparation in compliance with USP 800 standardsIdentifies medications considered “hazardous” by the National Institute of Occupational Safety and local policyAssist in contacting patient to review supply and mediation needs.Participate in weekly/monthly meeting.Accept special assignments and actively seeks out SME opportunityAdheres to schedule and attendance policyNOTE: Class E Driver’s license would be preferredWhy St. Luke’s:
